What do you collect and why?

I collect vinyl records and fine press books.  What do you collect, when did you start and how big is your collection?

Spoons and shotglasses. Even though I am under the drinking age. It started when I was 12 and my grandfather died leaving me some elegant spoon silverware. At every airport I have ever been, I have always purchased one spoon and a single shotglass telling where I have been.

Hmmm...I collect silver coins but won't say how many I have. I collect art and books, but nothing niche. I also collect magnets from my travels. I guess I also collect music since I have about 15,000 songs in my iTunes

I collect hard rock and heavy metal CDs and related memorabilia/junk. Why? Because if it weren't for my music collection I'd have gone insane a long time ago.

    I collect collections smile

As I kid if I every acquired more than 2 of something I turned it into a collection. Bottle caps, bottles, pencils, Coke stuff, SpongeBob stuff, rocks, shells, skeleton keys, and nutcrackers.

Now the ones I keep up with are skeleton keys and nutcrackers.

Also, I collect different editions of my favorite book, Treasure Island.

Hey brittanytodd, just got to this, I do have a bunch of vinyl LPs. But I can't really say I collect them. I guess it's like the dust on the shelves, it's there. You collect vinyl, what do you think of these (it's three covers)? They're from Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs, Nautilus Recordings and Sheffield Labs.

Thank you, everyone, for answering and providing your comments.

no mac salad, that Steely Dan record has some great hits!  Like "Daddy don't live in NYC No More".  I love that one!  The Doobie Bros. record is great (I have that one) and I love Uklah.  That song kind of has the same country twang as a ton of 70's Hawaiian funk.  You might like the blog, Aloha Got Soul for finding those old gems! (I can't tell what the last one is...)

Marriedwithdebt, My mom collects magnets too! Very cool.

I collect stamps...since i was a girl in my primary 4...I love the lovely and colorful pics in them and I learn a lot from collecting stamps...be it the countries, the cultures, the special events, and the best of all...I did make a lot of pen pals back in the years that what we could do is posting letters to each other from different countries...till now, I am still a stamp lover...

I collect pins with different messages on them. These pins are like a part of me. Oh and I collect different guitar picks of different colours just because I love colours and because I feel like it.

I collect shotglasses, started a few years ago.

I guess the reason I do this is because they are small and easy to travel with. Everywhere you go they have shotglasses as souvenirs so it is a wonderful way to have a keepsake for my travels.

My collection isn't all that big, maybe 50 or so. I just love looking at them in the display shelves every so often as they bring back good memories.

Not that I've been to 50 different places, I sometimes buy more than one shotglass from each place.
