What is an easy exercise to do to stay fit?

I don't have much time and want to exercise. I'm building a daily routine and need to know if push-ups, sit-ups or squats are best.

When I am in a hurry I will alternate between doing 25 push ups and then 25 leg "kick backs" on each leg then 25 jumping jacks or run in place for 25 seconds repeat 2 or 3 times.  Then finish up with "standing crunches" instead of getting on the floor stand.  Put one arm in the air and bring it down while lifting your leg to meet it.  Do this at least 20 times on each leg. Good luck!

You want to stay fit and you dont have a lot of time.

your answer is power lifting. About three hrs a week.

what exercises? Bench press, dead lift and squat.

These three exercises use ALL of your body.

I can't do the explanation justice in this short answer, please read this article from Tim Ferris-

If those are your choices, combine pushups, situps and squats. For example, 3 rounds of 10-20 each, one after the other, for time. Better yet, do burpees. Either perform a set amount or do as many as possible in a set time.

Here are some other suggestions I created in response to your question:

If you are able, I think jumping rope is a good exercise.  Other exercises that don't require equipment can include squats and lunges, sit ups, and push ups.

I'd love to do power lifting but I think I'll start with equal sets of push-ups, sit-ups and leg raises, thanks guys this is all very good advice.

They're decent BW exercises to start with...

After they get easy you can either add resistance or work on more challenging variations like one arm push ups, pistol squats and hanging leg raises.

Also, try to get more activity into your day-to-day life i.e. walk/move more often

if you just want to pick the best out of the three exercises you mentioned that squats would be your best bet in terms of calories burned per minute.

Use workout bands to do short 20 minute - high intensity workouts. If you get your heart rate pumped it will increase your metabolism for several hours after your exercise is over.

Your best option is to do a comibination of all three in a circuit, the reason being is that each of those exercises works a different muscle group.  A good routine should exercise your entire body, so if you add pull-ups to those three exercises you will be getting a full body workout.

I start the day with 10-15 minutes' hula hoop-ing. It really wakes me up (in a gentle manner) and strengthens my core at the same time. There are special fitness ones for adults (heavier and with bumps on the inside of the ring) but I just use a regular one.
