Can a blind person see colours, ride a tricycle unassisted and respond to light?
My spiritual daughter has a daughter who was termed 'blind' at age two but has not been tested since that age.recently, she pointed out yellow; and she recognized red and green. When the light is turned on in her room she is aware of it. Right now she attends a regular school but her mother is thinking about sending her to a school for the blind.I feel that since she was able to see and identify colours, can ride a tricycle unassisted and respond to light, she has some vision. I believe I can teach her and I am willing to go into early retirement. The first grade teacher does not want her.
Totally blind and legally blind are 2 separate things. I person who is legally blind is defined as such because of severe vision issues. While they are still able to see and do a lot of things they will never be able to function like someone who does not have these problems. It is also possible that the child might have been diagnosed as such because of a degenerative condition like macular degeneration which will only get worse with time.
Oh yes the blind person can see when light is on, most blind person that i know of can tell when a light is turn on and when it is turn off. When they are 15% blind they can indentified colours, also if a blind person is familiar with certain areas he or she can find themselves around and even take up things thet they need.
Yes blind person can see more colors, more light, but only of inside world.
If you want more detail, I feel like writing hub on it. Just check later.

How would you describe "Red" to a blind person?Matter of fact, how would you describe any colour. For instance, if a blind person asked me what "yellow" was, i'd say something like "yellow is much like the feeling of happy or joy". But how would you guys describe Red?

Being colour blind; how much does it affect your daily lives?Which colours do you have problems seeing and how does it affect you in your normal lives. Also, what do you do when faced with a problem such as traffic lights or choosing a fruit in a supermarket?
