Yes, almonds are really good for health. Almonds are ideal for those who did not develop an allergy for it at all. Eating five almonds 3 times a week work wonders for skin, hair and body-health. In my home country India, almonds are considered extremely nutritious. Indian mothers, especially in North India, give 10 almonds to their children almost daily for their overall health and energy. From my experience, almonds though very nourishing, contain healthy fats and if almonds are being eaten in excess amount (more than 10 almonds), one tends to put weight over time. If one is slim and maintains one's weight regularly, one can eat 10 almonds daily. If one is watching one's weight, one can eat 5 almonds 3 times a week which is indeed ideally sufficient and remember, one should not deprive one's body of essential and healthy fats present in nuts like almonds.
Yes, as good as any other nut. Try soaking them in water for 30 minutes before eating them. This usually helps the enzymes in the almonds to become more easily digested, but it doesn't make a huge difference.
