How long should running 3 miles take an average healthy person?
Well, walking at 3.0 miles per hour would be 3 miles in 60 minutes.
It depends on how fast the person is running. I'd say for a healthy person, around 20 minutes.
3 miles in 20 minutes would be pretty fast, less than 7 minute miles. I agree with ii3rittles about walking and I can walk about 3 miles or a little more in an hour (I plan 2 miles per hour when hiking on a trail). But, particularly as an older person, I think 8 to 10 minute miles (25 to 30 minutes) would be pretty good.
It really depends. For example a healthy runner could run 3 miles in 15 minutes. I'm also healthy and hit the gym quite often, but I can't run for more than 45 seconds without having to stop.
I'd actually say around 30 minutes. Most healthy people can manage 10 minutes per mile.
