Is there a natural alternative to the Flu Shot?

No, I'm afraid not. But, these things will help. Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it-don't store it in your purse or pocket. Frequent hand washing also helps prevent the spread of the flu. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth and try to avoid close contact with sick people. If you are sick, the CDC recommends that you stay home for at least 24 hours after your fever has resolved.

Thank you for your comment. Has the herbal Flu Shot from
Dr. Schulze's been evaluated, is this helpful? (www.herbdoc.com)

I'm afraid nothing is as helpful as the inhaler or the shot itself.

The need for a flu shot is a myth.  The flu shot is not guaranteed to protect you from the flu.  The fact is the pharma industry uses fear to push a lot of "medicines" you don't need to stay healthy.

Here's how I stay healthy during cold/flu season.  I take the herb Astragalus all the way through the flu season and we also use Grapefruit Seed Extract.  Both are incredibly useful.  Astragalus is a natural immune system builder.  GSE is a natural antibiotic/antiviral that is extremely safe.

I never get the flu, but in the event you should contract it (my son got the much feared swine flu) a dose of the anti-viral drug "Tamiflu" will knock it out very quickly.  My son has had colds that were more severe than the dreaded swine flu turned out to be.  Once he had the Tamiflu he was symptom free within 24 hours.

Otherwise, good hygiene and common sense.  Those who overuse products like hand sanitizer tend to be more prone to illness, not less.  Chronic overuse of these products depletes the natural immune system and makes you more susceptible.  Good old soap and water is just fine.

Here is what my family takes during flu outbreaks: echinacea/goldenseal in capsules, multi-vitamin and mineral supplement, probiotics, fish oils, reishi mushroom supplement and elderberry syrup, to support and strengthen immune system. Our immune system is the best defense against diseases, we just have to support it a little in the times of need. Oh yeah, and a healthy diet and life style in general will definitely help smile
