    Hi Hubbers,

I'd like some help with passing the Quality Assessment Process. Will you please give feedback on my article Alzheimer's Disease and Dementias (must be signed in to view). What can I do to improve? Thanks!

Hi, Salysoliman. One of the main problems with your article is that several sections are duplicates of information on other websites. For example, the wording in the first text capsule is virtually identical to that in the third, fourth, and fifth paragraphs at http://www.apa.org/research/action/memory-changes.aspx . The information in the "Aetiology" section is found at https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/alzheimers-disease/ .

Hi again, Salysoliman. I suspect that when a moderator wrote that your article needed improvement they were thinking that one of the required changes was the replacement of duplicate content.

I see from your profile that you're a doctor and a medical writer. You should be able to write a great article about Alzheimer's disease that is an asset to HubPages. The fact that the article currently has multiple sections that are published on different websites is a problem, though.

Here are some more duplicate sections. "Alzheimer's versus dementia" on the Medical News Today website (https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/159442.php) is the same as the "Alzheimer's Disease Verses other Dementias" in your article. The Diagnosis, Treatment, and Drug therapy sections on the Medical News Today site are the same as the equivalent sections in your article as well.

I suggest that you replace the duplicate sections. If your article still fails the Quality Assessment Process, you could post it in the forum again to get help.

This person has used material from other sites, on both their other hubs. You can tell that the standard of English on the articles is very different from their own writing.

Passing other people's work off as your own is plagiarism. In other words, stealing.

    I hate plagiarists.

I've reported you and, hopefully, HubPages will close your account.

You can check my articles for plagiarism, you can find that I use several sources in writing but not stealing their work,my articles are plagiarism nearly free.

I did, and most of them are copied from elsewhere.

You can't take any text and paste it as your own. None. You are allowed to add short quotes, but you must be clear on the source.

There's no such thing as 'plagiarism nearly free'. The text is either copied, or it isn't. Changing a few words here and there won't make any difference.

From your article, Sugar and Brain Health:

"Insulin strengthens the synaptic connections between brain cells, helping them to communicate better and thereby form stronger memories. So when insulin levels in the brain are lowered as the result of excess sugar consumption, cognition can be impaired."

      From the Huffington Post https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/ … _n_6904778

"Insulin strengthens the synaptic connections between brain cells, helping them to communicate better and thereby form stronger memories. So when insulin levels in the brain are lowered as the result of excess sugar consumption, cognition can be impaired."

      From your article,

"This kind of brain atrophy is yet another contributing factor for dementia.

Studies have found that people with lower levels of insulin and insulin receptors in their brain often have Alzheimer's disease. Sugar and other carbohydrates can disrupt your brain function even if you're not diabetic or have any signs of dementia."

From Your Best You Today: http://www.yourbestyoutoday.com/018-dem … s-disease/

"This kind of brain atrophy is yet another contributing factor for dementia.

Studies have found that people with lower levels of insulin and insulin receptors in their brain often have Alzheimer’s disease. But according to recent research published in the journal Neurology, sugar and other carbohydrates can disrupt your brain function even if you’re not diabetic or have any signs of dementia."

And it goes on. That is plagiarism.

No, Salysoliman, the problem isn’t references. I think you may be misunderstanding something. Naming the sites that you copied your information from doesn’t solve the problem of duplicate content. HubPages wants us to write in our own words. Copied content isn’t allowed.

You aren't writing, you are copying and pasting. It's not allowed. It is theft.
