How worried are you about catching Coronavirus? I’m not overly concerned but as a member of an ‘ at risk’ group I’m thinking about swerving the enclosed public spaces that I normally inhabit - gym, cinema etc. until there is a vaccine or cases are dwindling.
We have a relative flying out of Heathrow next week to travel for a few months, starting in Malaysia. I have concerns about the travel risks and am not keen on Heathrow or an airport hotel at the moment.
As for the person who, ignoring all the advice, took an uber to a London hospital, where they presented with symptoms, which now turn out to be coronavirus. They have probably put several others at risk.
I am hoping that the numbers will reduce and the crisis will decline, but I think it has a fair way to go yet.
Right now, I'm hopeful that the WHO will contain the virus to Asia, and that the CDC will take drastic steps to keep any cases of the virus that reaches our shores contained. But I'm keeping my eyes on Europe because I was thinking of taking a trip there late this spring. At my last research, there were only 3 cases, all in France. I'm hoping it won't spread in Europe just as I''m hoping it won't spread here. Right now I'm more worried about the flu. Several of our area schools are closed while they sanitize the buildings. People are upset because they are being quarantined, but they need to realize that anytime they go out of the country, they may be exposed to a disease that we either wiped out years ago or that hasn't hit here yet.
There have been several reported cases of coronavirus here in the U.K. A businessman picked up the virus in Singapore, transmitted it to several people when he stopped off to see friends at a ski chalet in France, and then a number of people in the south of England were exposed to it when he visited his GP. Demonstrates how highly contagious it is and how easily it is spread around the world. The man was quarantined for 14 days and luckily has now recovered.
Like you,I am planning to travel within Europe - have a May flight already booked to Venice.
This is an issue that is creating fear in the minds of many people as the outbreak is in substancial proportion. In absence of any vaccine it is definitely a matter of grave concern for all of us.
I think we have eight cases so far in Australia, two of which do not have Chinese backgrounds. Apart from that the government has set up a quarantine centre in a disused mining compound in Darwin to house Australian evacuees from Wuhan, China.
Coronavirus? I think I saw that band open for Anthrax and Biohazard at L'amour in Brooklyn, back around '86.

Just a few hours ago, New Jersey went into a state of emergency because of the coronavirus. A lot of New Jersey schools are closing now as a result or extending the Spring Break time to the students that are currently there. Many people are thinking that this is the result of hysteria while others...

There are already enough threads about Coronavirus, so I didn't want to do this one.But it is necessary. Some people here, in an effort to defend Trump or criticized Obama (whichever is it) and/ or minimize the threat of Coronavirus, keep comparing H1N1 death toll vs Coronavirus (so far) deaths....

HHS workers were sent to inspect quarantined Coronavirus victims without protective clothing or respiratory safeguards. They then dispersed to various parts of the country after being exposed to the virus.I mean damn....is this what we expect from the powers that be?

Why are American doctors not quarantined since Ebola is air born?

First, it's really too early to tell, so this is entirely speculation.Second, I honestly think there wasn't/isn't much President Trump can do to stop the spread of a virus of this type. Sure, not cutting funding for the agencies tasked with solving such crises is one thing he could have done, but...
