Please read this final article in this series by Bill Holland.

Once again it is sad that a popular series is coming to an end. This is a touching read though, and a wonderful way to bring another chapter to a close. Well done, Bill.

Thank you, Sir! I'm glad you enjoyed it, and I'm happy I was able to put my father in the spotlight for once in his life. He wouldn't have wanted me to write about him, but it's not the first time I did something he didn't approve of. LOL

Bill, your father's words were very wise but you have also become so wise through self and the experiences of life. You have transformed yourself positively and productively. Your write-up was very enjoyable and a good end to the series.

Thank you, John, for sharing Bill's work.

Bill, yes he would be proud of you. I know he and my dad are having a great time together. I'm sorry this series is ending; this is the perfect sign off.

Linda, if your dad was like my dad, they are having a beer together, and that thought makes me smile.

Mr. Bill, your father was a wise man, and I must say that he is looking down from heaven, smiling, and saying, "My son, you have lived it very well. I am proud of you." smile

You're a wise friend, and all I've learned from you are wise words. Thank you so much for sharing knowledge and educating people.

May your mom & dad Rest in Peace. Ameen!!

As this series comes to a close, I'd like to share some of the things my father taught me and I try my best to follow his advices.

#1) If you want to do something good for me and your mother,
avoid doing anything that might cast a doubt on our upbringing.

#2) If you ever find yourself in a difficult situation and feel the need to hide something you did, never hide it from me because a person should never hide anything from his lawyer, and you'll always find me to be your best lawyer.

#3) Never lie to anyone, not for anyone, not even to defend yourself, and accept your mistakes, even if you have to do so in front of a crowd, remember this way you'll never lose.

#4) If you want to leave a party, always try to leave when the party is at its peak; (before the fun ends) you will never regret it.
(The term "party" is used metaphorically here.)

#5) This is similar to what your father advised you, never borrow money, it's good to have money, help people in need, but never ask anyone to help you financially, history shows that money is both man's favorite love and his worst enemy.

#6) Even if the entire world is against you, you should always stand up for your rights.

#7) Always do your best to stand up for someone you know is doing nothing wrong but is being mistreated because of economic, financial, mental, or any other issues.

Sorry for making it so long, but I thought I'd also share some of my father's advices that I've been following for years, and interestingly, the list is growing longer every passing day, so thank you to my father. I really enjoy spending my time with him. smile

Thank you so much for sharing, Sir. May God continue to bless you abundantly. I just hope that when I reach your age, I will be following my father's advices. May God give me the same strength that he has given you. smile

Thank you so much for creating this forum discussion, John.

Blessings to both of you!! smile

A wonderful article Bill. I loved reading it. I so admire your dad because I have the same philosophy, all able bodied must work. As you rightly said it gives immense satisfaction to the psych. To give our best is the purpose of our life, I feel. No doubt your dad would have been proud of you Bill. Have a great weekend, stay blessed.

Thank you Vidya! I'm afraid some of the younger generation would not agree with this philosophy, but I will go to my grave believing there is value in working hard.  Blessings to you always!

A fitting way to wrap up this series on your father and a wonderful, honest tribute to a great man.  We don’t have to agree with everything our parents say or preach, but that’s part of us all being individuals and setting our own course in life.  Sounds to me like he taught you a lot of lessons about life that have stayed with you for your entire adult life, and there is no greater tribute we can give our parents than that.

Once again I almost fell off my seat. How you capture the moment of you and your father. My dad gave me such advice and always had a way to stress the importance of work and if you are able to lift a finger you can do something and he better not find you being lazy when there are so many things to accomplish. Once again you hit my funny bone as well as my nerves. My father and I did not always see eye to eye. He said I exasperate him. You always make me laugh as well as cry. Bringing back your old memories triggers many of my own. I could never keep up with you. You are faster than grease lightning. I am like that younger brother that tags along and you can't get rid of. There have been so many highs. I had to quickly say my last good bye. Thanks for all the most wonderful memories. I said it once and I will say it again you always make my day a happy one. Take care billy buc.
