It depend if is just fat or if is hormonal. If is hormonal, not any workout in the gym will help. If is fat, the best is to do aerobic .

I´ve got a couple of friends and no matter how much exercise they do, they still seem to have a small case of moobies.  You don´t tend to see thin men with them so weight loss must be the key.

Wow, after reading through all of the nonsense in this thread, I almost didn't post. But I want to help you out.

Does he take any anabolic steroids? If so, he needs estrogen inhibitors, and he is an idiot for not cycling properly.

Second, does he drink beer? Beer is highly estrogenic and can cause Moobs.

Several people recommended aerobic training. And all of them are idiots. What he should be doing is HIIT training and fat burning complexes with weights.

It is probably very safe to say that his diet is absolute crap. He needs to eat right, train right, and live right.

Free weights and exercises designated for upper arms, shoulders, and chest. Workouts would be at least 3 days per week, 20-30 minutes each day. Running, if they can, would also help. wink

Not to mention, a well balance eating plan and calorie watch. wink

Wear a wrist watch and set the timer for every hour when you are at home.  Start out with 10 and add one push up the next hour.  The next day pick up where you left off.  Ex. day 1. hour 1. 10 pushups
hour 2 11 pushups hour 3 12 puch ups hour 4 13 push ups.  Day 2 hour 1 14 push ups and so on.  Next you need to do at least 20-30 minutes of cardio 3-5 times a week with your heart rate in the fat burning zone.  That means slow and steady.  Lastly, the hardest part is don't fill up on junk after you work out.  Eat things like almonds, yogurt, fruit etc..

I went to a lecture a few weeks ago on hormones.  One of the topics that came up was that with food being so altered that there is to much estrogen in things like soy etc....  Men eat these like the women and are getting "soft" where they shouldn't like the man boobs you speak of.  First thing to do would be get his hormones checked.  If estrogen is the culprit then some testosterone can be prescribed.  Also altering his foods would be a solution.

Exercise is great but if the hormone are off your still out of luck
ridding yourself of these.  Good luck.

I have gotten my hormone levels checked and doctors says they are normal

  17. profile image56
    Rosholisticposted 14 years ago

karmicfilly has truly hit upon the answer to "moobs" as they have been called.  Because of the hormones placed in our meats as well as the effect that pesticides have on hormones both men and women are changing.  The answer however is not to take testosterone in my opinion as the key to fixing the issue is the estrogen/progesterone ratio.  Eating foods that contain less hormones is a start but will probably not reverse the imbalance that already exist. I believe you will find a good natural male progesterone cream very helpful.  The cream that I've found effective is sold by Restored Balance.  It also works wonders for prostate issues.

Chances are his body is predisposed to store fat there. It can be very distressing, especially for a young man. Tell him to look up gynecomastia on google.

if it is from weight gain, lose weight.  If not, then can consider surgery.  I've heard that men can get breast cancer too, but is rare

I've always said that anyone with a specific medical condition should visit a physician first.

If it's hormonal, workout only will not solve the problem.

A healthy eating plan combined with exercise like push ups (incline, decline, flat), cardio-workouts and weight lifting plus a
system like natural herb supplements to help balance the level
of 'positive' testosterone while lowering the estrogen levels,
along with burning the fat from the chest, could help.

These combined options maybe a suitable choice to avoid going under costly surgery and possible consequent scarring.

Manboobs is fat basically do lots og cardio drink plenty of water and do chest workouts.
So as your fat goes the muscle will build.

This really works, I got manboobs on antidepressants and i got rid of them, I have a 45 inch chest of muscle now.

    Good luck to your friend

oh and the worst thing to do is eating to little, this tell your body to keep the fat it has.

have small healthy meals about 5 for the day.

no fizzy drinks and alchohol/junk for at least 3 months
when u get ur body back then u can cheat a little

    hey folks
i am an endocrine surgeon  and i think  you  got to get things straight
moobs  -gynaecomastia  can  appear at puberty  and    that  is  because of hormonal imbalance
it also can happen  because of fat accumulation truncal obesity
    steroid  intake also  causes it
it may  occue in middle age  due to excessive drinking  leading to cirrhosis of thwe liver

what one needs to do is to evaluate their hormones and check for testosterone total and free
then if there is deficiency they need endocrine opinion
if they can be surgically corrected then  webster's surgery is the answer

    Hey

This is just because of the obesity problems. Just you have to reduce your excessive weight and do some exercise daily.
This can help you a lot.

    Thank You
