Do you view Valentine's Day as a real holiday or just a Hallmark holiday?
In my opinion, Valentine's Day is not a real holiday. It is just a day that everybody wants to have an 'official' day to show the world that he or she loves someone. It would be ideal to make everyday is Valentine day.
Well, both. We have holidays or certain celebrated days for just about everything else so maybe one for sweethearts is pretty good considering commercialism is going to take advantage of all it can with holidays and memorable dates anyway.
Just a Halmark day. Holiday has at its roots Holy Day. There is nothing Holy in Chocolate or Halmark cards.
I felt the same until reading a hub by CJAndrews. I quote, "This is a holiday that has been around since approximately 270 A.D." Based on the facts used to back this up, I had to reconsider my position on the holiday.
Sweetest Day however...I've yet to be swayed. So, Happy Valentine's Day all!

I think it's just a hallmark day myself but I did give my wife flowers, a card and a gift so, at least, she is celebrating. If I am truthful, though, I also get a kick out of buying gifts for her and Valentines gives me another opportunity. I guess it depends on your perspective!
