If you could hold on to just one memory from your life forever, what would that be?
This seems to be a rather 'negative' question. "One memory." Our lives are filled with memories. The probability is that, unless we get Alzheimers or some sort of senility disorder, we will be able to recall many memories right up until the time we depart this world - and, who knows - into the next.
As it is, nothing that is registered in our long-term memory is ever forgotten. It is recall which is the trouble. Recall slows down as we grow older. But if we are put into a deep hypnotic trance, an experienced hypnotist can get out of our memories the most mundane details of what has happened to us(by taking us to that moment in memory when it is happening)
You do yourself a disservice if you believe that your memories will be lost. Some might be difficult to retrieve. I suspect that none are beyond recall if the right stimulus is provided.
