Did you know that the Philippines celebrates the "Longest Christmas Season in the World"? It starts on September 1 and ends on January 6 annually. Today is already September, I hear Christmas songs from my neighbors, my family has started decorating the house and the news programs have started the Christmas countdown. Merry Christmas to my country.
That's a good idea, however, some authors here in Hubpages come from countries that do not celebrate Christmas. I think it would be annoying.
How come? There should not be such limitation.
That's wonderful. How this celebration is different?
I love anything musical--and this lens is a wealth of Halloween music. It's so nice to have it all in one place. Thanks.
That's great. We're in that list too in Puerto Rico. There isnt an official date, but some people start decorating their houses in Sept/Oct every year. And the "Christmas" music starts in radio and stores too. In my family we do it the day after Thanks Giving.
Christmas here lasts until the last days of January
Lets party!
This year is going to be a sad one.
Filipino do not celebrate Thanksgiving, instead, we attend the "Simbang Gabi" or 7-night mass. I am glad that Puerto Rico celebrates Christmas in September too.
I just read about Simbang Gabi. Its cool that its the same here. "Misas de Aguinaldo". Obviously that's something only Catholics do, but it is a Christmas tradition.
We have a lot of things in common, Philippines and Puerto Rico beacause of our shared history.
In my country, the Spanish translation for "Misas de Aguinaldo" is "Misa de Gallo."
Our Misa de Gallo is the Dec 24 (Noche Buena) mass. <3
Oh, Philippine and Puerto Rican Spanish are also different, because in the PH Noche Buena and Misa de Gallo are different things. I will read different articles about how Puerto Rican celebrate Christmas. Thank you.
Yes, Nochebuena is the day before Christmas. We celebrate that day too. (Catholics, Christians or not). Misa de Gallo is the name for that day mass.
It'd be fun to learn what other similar traditions we have.
Xmas so soon? Today is the first time I'm reading/hearing such news!

In our South Asian countries are celebrating Christmas day solemn. But the Philippines 5 months extending. It's very interesting may be as like as our trade fair 1 month extending.
Of course I know that as Filipino expat living in Germany. It is a nice and long Christmas.
Eric, such a long celebration should be interesting to write about. I would certainly like to read about it. Hint! Hint!
I already have a plan to do it, not only the Christmas but other holidays, I will make articles for them.
Thank you! However, this year's Christmas is boring. Theme parks, restaurants, malls, etc. are closed
Sorry for the lack of outside facillties. The pictuqe of your house decoration nice. Celebrate safe and stay safe. Merry Xmax!

Why are so many people critical of how others celebrate Christmas?Christmas is what you make it and you have every right to celebrate it the way you wish. It is not only for Christians anymore. It is a societal tradition that will not go away as religions decline. It is a time to be happy, to...

Why do you celebrate Christmas?I have noticed that the stores are stocking up on Christmas goodies. Tis the season to start seriously thinking about money, and debt and presents right? Do you feel obligated to give gifts? Are you stressing or celebrating around Christmas time?
