Do u care whether or not your words mean something to anyone, or is writing a self serving exercise?
Anyone who loves and care about writing should definitely care about whether or not words mean something to anyone because it does add creditability to the individual so in a sense the reward is self serving knowing that others value what you write or have to say through your writing.
If you are not writing to reach an audience, why are you writing?
It depends on the day. Some days I feel inadequate and wonder why more don't read or comment on what I write. Other days I am so content to sit and write that I couldn't care less if anyone is seeing it.
The writing is for me, making it readable is for the readers, who may be curious, or share a similar experience. I was writing long before I was being read!
I care very, very much about what people take from my more personal hubs, as they are filled with my life experiences, and ideas. I already know that lots of people will disagree with a lot of what I say. Sometimes I'm wrong too. I think that writing the non product type articles is very healthy for me though, and when such a time comes that someone reads those, and feels less alone, less strange, less alienated, then that is a good thing indeed.
I think that would differ for everyone. I think some do it for self serving reasons like to increase their score or maybe to act like the know what their talking about or maybe just to help someone with whatever information they may know.
Both I care about both, I care what my writing will do for someone else, how they will take my writings. And I care what my writings are saying for myself!
I really hope my words mean something to anyone. I wish they do.
self serving, i dont care if people rip up every single word i've written, i believe what i believe and am bold enough to share it if someone has a problem with that or doesnt understand what i believe i will try to tell them what i mean. but i will not back down from my opinions of beliefs
I would hope that my words may help, inspire, make smile, or even enrage someone somewhere. At the same time I think a lot of my writing is for me. It's my release, and my escape to a world other than the drab one that I presently reside.
i like to think that what i have to say matters to someone other then myself. i don't care about my hub score but i honestly appreciate the input i get whether it is positive or negative.

Anyone have good advice on helping with writers block while writing a novel?I am currently writing my first novel and I am stuck right in the middle. I have a little over 30,000 words written and I have found myself unable to let words flow when I sit at my computer to write. Any ideas?

It just occurred to me that it's almost November. I know an army of excellent hubpages writers undertook this contest last year. What about now?
