If you could bring one character to life from your favorite book, who would it be?

The best character I've been thinking about all my life is Zorba the Greek and he would be the one I'd like to bring to life.

That's a tough one.  There are a few that I'd like to bring to life, but I'll choose Atticus Finch from To Kill a Mockingbird.

I'm with Gigi on this one.  Atticus Finch.  He is the father I always wanted, and possesses several of the characteristics that I find attractive in men in general.  One of my biggest celebrity crushes is Gregory Peck - solely because he played Atticus Finch.  He was exactly what I had pictured Atticus to be after reading "To Kill a Mockingbird."  I even mentioned that fact in a hub I wrote as a celebrity tribute.  smile

I can't help thinking of a recent Hub of mine - The Dark Tower. I'd definitely bring Roland Deschain, last gunslinger from a world that has moved on, that he might Quest for the sake of all worlds to win the Dark Tower from the mad Crimson King - the seven-part Stephen King masterpiece remains my unalterably favourite saga of more than all-time:

"The greatest mystery the universe offers is not life but size. Size encompasses life, and the Tower encompasses size. The child, who is most at home with wonder, says: Daddy, what is above the sky? And the father says: The darkness of space. The child: What is beyond space? The father: The galaxy. The child: Beyond the galaxy? The father: Another galaxy. The child: Beyond the other galaxies? The father: No one knows.

"You see? Size defeats us. For the fish, the lake in which he lives is the universe. What does the fish think when he is jerked up by the mouth through the silver limits of existence and into a new universe where the air drowns him and the light is blue madness? Where huge bipeds with no gills stuff it into a suffocating box and cover it with wet weeds to die?"

I'm sorry - I could go on for an eternity of eternities...

Well, it's not my favorite book, but how about Lestat, from Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles?
Sure would make an interesting addition to humanity.

I'd have to say a tie between Robert E Howard's the "Blassenvilles" from the Short story named "Pigeons from Hell and ther weird and fantastic adventures." Such a great writer. And Clive Baker's "Decker" from  "Cabal. His colection of shorts also. It's called "Cabal"

The creator of the Universe, although not a fictional character, is already the very source of all life. He plays the most important role in my favorite book!

Atticus Finch from my favourite book 'To Kill a Mocking Bird'.  His sense of natural justice is much needed at the moment.  He could become the next president of America.  He could teach the world to be a more patient and compassionate place.  He could right the wrongs and I love him for that.

Might as well choose a super hero. Superman or Batman. The world needs one right now. Comics are books right?
