   How do you pick topics for your writing?
   
   Whether it be fiction, poetry, or writing tips, how do you decide what to write about?

   Well most of the time I write about something I am interested in myself. Although I did make a question once when I was out of ideas. It gave me some nice food for though by the way. (haven't delivered it though (yet))

   Modibas, you should publish it! What was the topic? If you don't mind my asking. Someone recently asked me what my motivations were for writing and it got me to thinking. I believe that the topics we choose give insight into our motivations, whether that be conscious or not. What do you think?

   1. Stuff I have googled on and not found a satisfactory article about (etiquette dilemmas sometimes fall into this category) - I usually end up doing enough reading and research to write my own article afterward!
   2. Stuff I already know about and want to share with others
   3. I*try* to pick topics that aren't already done a whole lot (I steer clear of writing artilces on potty training, for example)
   4. Often the Q&A inspires me, although not straightaway.  In fact I am in the process of writing a hub inspired by an answer I once gave in the Q&A months ago (it just never occurred to me to write a hub about the topic until now!)

   I keep a journal of ideas, newspaper clippings, pix, snatches of verse, even the occasional lyrics from a song.  I revert to this journal when I'm not feeling inspired and it always get the juices flowing!

   I believe everyone has a topic that interests them more than others. I have always been fancinated by the nature of relationships. Why we say yes to some people and no to others.
   Why we are willing to endure hardships with one person and bolt when the season changes with another. Therefore most of my topics usually fall under "gender relations" and offering advice.
   The main thing I stress is life is a personal journey and each of is responsible for our own happiness.
   
   Sometimes I will write about other topics especially if there is something big in the news which is causing people to chime in with their opinions. Another good source comes from reading questions, blogs, advice columns, and hubs of others. If you strongly disagree with someone it can lead to writing a great hub offering an alternative view of a subject.

   on this site, I write about subjects that interest me.  If you are writing for a site simply for money, chances are you are given a range of topics and you must choose from them

    I choose topics that interest me, and that I have some decent amount of knowledge that I believe will be valuable to the reader.
    
    Sometimes, my topics are things that have to do with career (education).  However, I always make sure to be well researched, especially when I am writing something that is controversial such as my Chasing Literacy blog:

    I keep a journal to note down any ideas that I get. I also browse on hub pages and the internet, not looking for anything in particular and it's amazing what good subjects come up. I also just browse around hub pages. Very often a question, hub or answer from another hubber has given me a good idea for a hub.

    The methods I choose to pick the topics are several.  I find that too often topics in the news do not present the entire facts or they present a viewpoint with which I disagree.  In these cases I choose to write an article presenting my viewpoint but not ignoring others on the subject.
    
    Another is to present issues on which I either have strong opinions or issues that have not been addressed which seem to be a part of society.  In this aspect I address the topic in an attempt to address the issues which to some may not feel it is an issue at all.
    
    Another method is news topics which surface providing me with ideas to present different perspectives which may not have been covered or covered in the way I felt they should be.  I want to present my views and explain why I feel the way I do. 
    
    I also have a method to not lose the topics in which I have an interest by identifying them in a spreadsheet.  In this way I can address the topic or derivatives of them to cover various aspects while writing on the same subject.  As I think of a topic I add it to my spreadsheet.  It lists the topics which I have completed and those I want to write for each site in which I submit them such as hubpages.

    I have started carrying a small note pad with me.  Sometimes I am doing something and all of sudden I get this idea in my head.  IF I don't write it down right away it is gone.  Many ideas will come when you least expect it.  Almost never while sitting at the computer.

    My topics are always about what is relevant in my life currently, ranging from jobs, hearing my daughter sing a funny song or just something that is on my mind.

    1. Interests that are trending (like my Evian Baby videos hub)
    
    2. Cultural aspects of my country, Colombia
    
    3. My own ideas and opinions (these are easy to make since you don´t have to make any research)
    
    4. Movie reviews (because its my hobbie)
    
    5. Product Reviews (to insert affiliate links) but these are really boring.
    
    6. And lastly, a niche category which is being searched but with few competitors. These topics are almost impossible to find so I only writte them once in a while.
