How to maintain your concentration while you are writing?
While I am writing, I can not have words spoken anywhere near me. Music has to be instruemental, I can't listen to podcasts, and I can't have a conversation with anyone around me as I end up typing the wrong word, losing my focus, or simply being unable to continue writing.
It probably has a lot to do with what you're writing. I've read your bio and see you write very technical things. Given the same situation, I have to have things quiet but not totally to help with concentration.
I write a hub every now and then but I've been writing a children's book. It's the second one and in it's final edits now. I write primarily sitting on the sofa or at the dining table, both of which are within view of the TV and my playing 4 YO son. If I'm up against a deadline, I'll go to the library but that happens seldom.
I guess it's all in what you're use to and your ability to tune things out. Sometimes, that's easy and others, not so much.
I purpously write my hubs when no-one is around just to avoid the risk of getting distracted. I find that if I'm having a writers block mid hub having a shower and a bite to eat also helps.
