I wish you all a Happy New Year!
My plans for 2024 are speculative writing, writing for my clients and writing on my film site more while still hanging on to HubPages.
What are your New Year plans?

Happy New Year Kenna!  I'm going to keep with HubPages, but possibly branch out elsewhere. I would love to see some better money.

Janis, Thank you. Yes. Diversify is a good idea if we want to see better money in 2024.

Happy New Year, Kenna!  My New Year's resolution is to get my science-fiction novel published by a traditional publishing house before 2024 is out.  As for my goals here on HubPages?  I'd like to hit at least the 500-article mark here on HubPages; but I know I probably won't get there, because composing query letters to literary agents and traditional publishing houses is hard and time-consuming work.  Therefore, I've only really been posting articles on HubPages that I know will likely get a number of views.  My long-term goal in that respect is to reach the 1000-article mark, but I realize that's currently a distant star.

Jason, thank you! I, too, have a target to surpass 200. And, like you, other writing pulls me away from HP. Regards to your SciFi writing, do you write short stories? If you do, you might want to check out Writers and Ilustrators of the Future. They do quarterly submissions at no charge with a publication every year.

Thanks, Kenna.  I don't really write short stories, but I'm not ruling it out.  The two science-fiction books that I have written are regular-sized novels.  Nevertheless, I will go ahead and check out Writers and Ilustrators of the Future to see what they offer.

Best wishes for Health and Success in 2024!

      For myself:

      A) I will be involved with additional research and development into:
      - vaccines for the prevention of Alzheimer's and other dementias.
      - vaccines to combat and prevent Multiple Sclerosis.
      - development of "tooth buds" that can be implanted for growing new teeth, replacing the need for crowns, permanent partial dental bridges, and full-arch transplant replacement.
      - 3D implants of many kinds and more lifelike protheses that can be equipped to have the sense of touch.
      - Increasing access to mental health services nationwide.

      B) I currently have about 50 martial arts grandmasters in my tutelage in and around West Africa and I see this figure doubling within the year. These men and women and their schools are the best of the best and we will see them in the Upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics and Paralympics.

      C) I will continue to encourage members of Generations Y and Z to run for office where there are actually unchallenged seats in elections in many cities in USA. In 2023 in Ohio, we progressed from dozens of unchallenged seats to NONE.

Patty?  I think the elephant in the room here is the need for Americans to put the ax to the dental prosthetics industry altogether.  Lately, I've been hearing horror stories about prosthetic dental implants.  Dentures and false teeth have long overstayed their welcome in modern dentistry.  We can only hope that investors will wise up and pull their money out of the dental prosthetics industry so that regenerative dental technology can finally prosper here in the United States and throughout the world.

This year will prove to be interesting for me. Two big life changes ahead of me. Well, maybe three. We'll see.

One is I wrote my autobiography equating to over 100,000 words between Oct and Nov. It spanned near 70 years. Yes, a unique life as all have. I announced it to my niece in an email, who has an MA in English with a minor in Creative Writing, and she stunned me with her reply saying, "Congratulations on finishing your draft!!!" I appreciated the congratulations, yet I recognized the teacher in her lingering near by.

What stunned me is the keyword, 'Draft'. hmmm . . . We, all being writers, know what that means. I have a central theme as suggested from reading articles on autobiographies. So, this year, 2024, before me lay (Or, is it lie?) the maybe complicated challenge, most certainly exciting adventure, and perhaps mysterious, mystical, and magical new 'experience'.

Tim, I agree with your niece, congratulations!!! Not many people can say they have a 100K book written. Yes. Editing is a chore but worth the effort.

    Happy New Year Kenna!
We are staying home tonight, building a bonfire and grilling out. No desire to get in the middle of any craziness! There will be plenty to see and hear  off in the distance...

Going forward, I hope to be able to continue writing. Now that I am officially retired and will have more time to invest, I hope that HP is the right place for me!

        1. Kenna McHugh profile image93
Kenna McHughposted 3 months agoin reply to this

Janis, it varies based on my client's wishes because they come first. After all, their money is guaranteed. I try to keep my articles updated within three months. The more articles I write, the more challenging that is to do. I'll discover more information about the article topic and add it to the article. I never let them go a year without an update.

Three times in the year is enough.                                  And if you had articles over the 50 piece mark, you may find the updating treat cubersome.

I plan to write more articles for Hubpages.

I will continue with writing my books.

I will continue to support Ukrainian refugees as well as my family and friends in Ukraine.

Happy New Year Kenna. I am hoping to find more time to write again. 2023 was taken up with having a new home built and watching one set of grandchildren mornings during the week and another in the afternoon. The house and move are now done which should give me some time to write.  Best of luck for you and your plans in the new year.

At this age of 79, and with many subjective biomarkers placing me at the age of someone 30 years younger, I will continue with my multiple practices -- qigong, meditation, kundalini, bliss-at-will, self-hypnosis, synchronizing brain hemispheres, abstinence from sugar and wheat, 19-5 intermittent fasting...and a couple of more of that weird crap that fill my life with unutterable joy of creative curiosity about what else I could be.
As for writing, I don't know, at 80-something articles I may update some, may write a few more for those few of my readers who chose not to see me just as a shameless braggart and a self-centered weirdo.
In any case, no matter how little I may be showing it with my rare participation in forums -- I truly and honestly appreciate and honor all hubbers in their efforts to make of writing much fun, money and whatever else it means to their mind styles and life styles.
May all of your dreams and plans be fruitful in this New 2024!
Thank you Kenna for starting this one, which gave me a chance to say all this.

Kenna dear -- "Eternity" is a VERY long time -- lol -- instead, my wishful thinking is gravitating around a cultivation of quantum healing abilities, also at distance, if humanly possible. Loving people and trying to make myself useful if I can, and for that I need to make myself a right instrument.
Thank you for this mini-chat, and thank you for wishing me luck.
