What is your favorite fantasy book?

Do you like Harry Potter, Cirque Du Freak, Lord of the Rings?  What is your favorite?  Why do you like it?

Anything to do with mythical creatures. I mostly aim for vampires, were-creatures, and dragons. So as of lately I been reading Dark Hunters series, Midnight Breed series, Ainti Blake series. I love these because they deal with Vampires and Romance. Their been other books I love to, but I can't remember them off the top of my head at the moment.

Lord of the Rings or Chronicles of Narnia. I'm a big fan of the old classics because they're well written with unforgettable characters and epic dialogue.

George RR Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire novels.  A lot of people know the story from the Game of Thrones HBO series.  A Game of Thrones is of course the first book, but there are four more right now with two on the way.  Trust me when I tell you the books are way more impressive that the series.  Martin's world is so engrossing and massive, there's really no way to capture it in a television show, though I think HBO is doing okay with it.  You almost feel like it's a real place and he's writing about real events.  Can't wait for the next book.

My all time favorite would probably be the Wheel of Time series... but maybe that's just nostalgia. My favorite individual book? The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson. Absolutely fabulous.

I love the fantasy genre so much I've written a hub all about it. There are so many subgenres under the fantasy umbrella that there's bound to be something for everyone's taste, be it dark, romantic, adventure, sword-and-sorcery, dungeons-and-dragons, urban/contemporary, mythological--the list goes on! In my opinion, it's a beautiful other-world of literature, and people who ignore it miss out on so much.

I've also written hubs on fantasy authors who write both SF and fantasy, and many are amazingly talented female authors whose writing ranks among the highest within the genre.

Do check them out if you have time!
