    I have no idea.  I have never heard it, but I assume that it means that the argument is pursued by force rather than by logic.

    It reads like US slang not English slang, and quite modern, I think it comes from the film - Machine Gun Preacher.  About a biker who takes up the cause of African orphans, Sudan, or Somalia, I believe.  It probably means using force, rather than debate, in an argument.

    Put another way, it means: 'I'd like you to believe me, or it's curtains for you'.
