Do you like to listen to audiobooks?

'Tis the season for the beach and road trips. Since I began working for a magazine about audiobooks many years ago, I discovered the addictive quality of them. While I don't work there any more, I provide technical email support for their summer listening program for YA listeners. There are two free audiobooks each week. So, I was wondering, how many people listen now. When I started at the magazine 10 years ago, I knew few that did.

I love them but always fall asleep. Sometimes I don't like the voice or the way they read the story, but nonetheless, I love them a lot.

The narrator makes a big difference. The magazine I used to work for did reviews of audiobooks.

My wife and I listen to audio books all the time now. She can do craft, crochet, spinning etc while she listens, so if it's a book I like I listen as well. A good narrator can really make a difference.

The narrators are so important. They can even make a so-so book come to life!

I listen to them on my commute back and forth to work-75 miles.  I like them but sometimes I can't focus to them when I am distracted by other things such as being tired, having a hard day at work or if I need things done when I get home.  So I sometimes have to re-listen.  I listen to them on my kindle and looking for a way to hold it when I am working out.

I've actually never listened to one but am going to soon. I guess I've always preferred reading than having someone tell me the story, but then again it's something I haven't tried.

It's amazing how many times I've sat in the car when I wasn't ready to stop listening!
