Take time to read Vidya 's response for Week 40 and 41

    https://hubpages.com/literature/Poem-A- … -40-and-41

I haven't read this one yet, but I will later.

Lol!  I put the wrong weeks in the title, and I can't seem to edit it.
    Sorry.

Brenda, thank you for sharing Vidya’s response to these two prompts. She combined them very well.
Vidya, great job on this poem and commentary. I could have combined the two in a different way..shopping bores me lol. I enjoyed your focus on shopping addiction, it is almost as bad a gambling addiction.

John, I am so glad you liked my response to the two word prompts. I agree with you, it can be the other way round. Especially when a man has to wait till his wife finishes shopping. It can be quite boring for him. I have seen many such instances at malls. Imagine the plight of a husband whose wife has a  shopping addiction.

      Hello Vidyaji.
Great response to the word prompts, Boredom and Shopping. You are right that shopping can be an addiction for some people, which is not good.
I always plan and make a list for my shopping.
Nice to combine the two interesting prompts, and you have done it skilfully.
      Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Brenda, for sharing this in the forum.

Hi Chitrangada, glad you liked my response. I often used to do that, whenever I felt bored, I used to shop. With time I was able to curb this habit. So the two words seemed to go well in the poem. Now I am all for minimalistic living and prefer to shop online for the essentials. Having unsubscribed from the ad notifications, the temptation is also less.

Thanks a lot, Bredz, for posting a link to Vidya's beautiful article. smile

Wonderful hub, Vidya. I enjoyed reading your very Brilliant response to Brenda's word prompts, 'Boredom and Shopping.'
I really liked how you blended the two words. I agree that the main cause of many people's shopping addiction is often to escape negative and unpleasant  emotions such as boredom, anxiety, etc. Your poem was a lot of fun to read. I also enjoyed the quotes you shared. Thanks for sharing smile

Blessings and Love to both of you!

Thanks Misbah for the nice comments. Good to know you liked my ideas of combining the two word prompts. Truth be told, I was a little held up last week with other work. This week's prompt gave me the inspiration to combine the two. Our mood certainly improves when we shop, but getting addicted to it is not a good idea.

    Vidya
In your article you explain how boredom and sadness sometimes leads us to becoming shopaholics, but we can learn how to deal with it.
You give us some very good ideas to use to help curb our shopping like saving for an emergency fund or a vacation.
Set up a budget, avoid malls, and treat ourselves to something special like on our birthday.

Your poem shows us how a shopaholic uses shopping to make herself feel good.

No matter what happens in her life, or what time of year, she feels a need to go shopping.

It makes her feel good inside.
To her, it is therapeutic, while others think she is a shopaholic.

This is a great article and poem.

I understand how shopping makes one feel good.
Whenever I'm in a bad mood, buying myself something makes me feel better.

Unfortunately, my finance don't allow me to splurge that often....but it would be nice.

    Great work on this one.

Hi Brenda, thanks for sharing my article poem and for summarizing it. I am glad you liked my response. Yes I used to feel the same. Like you I am constrained by finances now. So I indulge in rearranging things already bought at home and realize how I could have avoided buying many things, lol.

Yes Brenda, the sales and discounts are too tempting to resist. We all tend to turn into shopaholics during such times lol

This is another excellent response to 2 of Brenda's word prompts, Vidya. I enjoyed reading about shopaholics and I know it can be an addiction,.

Thank you for posting this article, Brenda.

Hi Pamela, thanks for the comments. I am glad you liked my response. Especially during festival seasons and any celebration in the family, we tend to splurge and then later regret. But a shopaholic needs no reason, she simply feels good to shop.

I am far from a shopaholic, but nonetheless enjoyed Vidya's poem.  I also enjoyed her tips on how to avoid becoming a shopaholic.  Thanks again, Brenda, for featuring so many people's articles like this one.  Once comments are restored, we can go back to our usual ways of leaving comments.

I do hope comments are restored soon too, it so much more fun. It's dear Brenda's efforts that keeps us connected through this forum. Have a great weekend
