John, I really liked how you told this story. It was as if I could visualize every scene in my mind. I really liked Nelson Mandela's quote and felt sorry for the young girl. The story was so true to life. As they say, not every story  has a happy ending. Thank you so much for sharing. smile

      Blessings always!!

John, your story highlights the consquences of the poor and needy in the digital world. The events in it do somehow match those of George Orwell's "1984". The fact that the poor little girl couldn't be happy on this earth and even afterlife is very sad and touching. Very well narrated with vivid descriptions. Loved it all. Thank you for sharing.

Misbah, thank you for sharing John's work.

I am glad you enjoyed the story, Rosina, and that you can see some comparisons to 1984. I appreciate your generous comments about the story.

Yes, Nelson Mandela's quote was wonderful. I am so happy you enjoyed the story too, even though it wasn't a happy one.

Thanks Misbah for sharing John's short story piece about a universe gone mad.  Is that our future?  I hope not!  We must fight such corruption and stay alert.  Totalitarian regimes verses democracy is a battle on full display now in the world.

Hi Peggy, sometimes it feels like the world has already gone made with what has been happening recently. Thank you for reading.

What a fantastic story John. I felt like I was walking with that young girl!  I have heard several people mention the 1984 book recently. Unfortunately that comparison to current times is a bit heart breaking. You really outdid yourself with this excellent story.

Thank you for posting John's story Misbah.

Hello,Pamela. I am glad the story seemed realistic enough to allow yourself to walk beside the little girl. It makes me sad to think this story is much closer to the truth than many imagine.

Thank you for telling me, Misbah. They were slow on this one, but still annoying. Maybe they waited for it to go to Discover. I guess I have to finish writing the one on content theft as well.

I believe we should all group together to launch a massive DMCA Missile Rocket to completely demolish that website. HP is not willing to help. We must work together to complete this task!

This is again very frustrating to know that John's latest article also has been stolen.
I read in some other thread that HP expects us to file the DMCA, since we own our content. But, isn’t the entire HubPages website the target, with so many articles stolen, as soon as they are published?
And, we definitely don't own the HubPages website!

Yes, Chitrangada that is exactly true. That is always HubPages convenient line..saying we authors own the content so it is our responsibility. That is a cop out…how can we be expected to file a DMCA every time we publish an article here? It is not fair. HupPages make money from our content.

I read this some time back.  It is indeed a powerful story and brought tears to my eyes.  It paints a picture of what could be, sadly.  How scary is that!
    Well done, John!

Well done, Misbah, for bringing attention to this deep, emotional story!

Yes, Ann. I remember your previous comment on this story. It is a very scary scenario especially since it may not be very far from becoming reality. I think tears are a worthy response to the tale. Thank you for reading again.

    John...
You did a wonderful job on this story, but it is so sad.

How could others not speak up?  How could anyone let this little girl starve?

Heartbreaking...and then worried about how her body looks in front of hospital.. that is totally wrong.

    Sad story.  Sad world.

Thank you for reading this, Brenda. Yes, I agree that it is a heartbreaking story, and unfortunately society is not far away from this type of situation. I hope we manage to avoid it.
