    Hello John!
Well expressed and thoughtful poem about Retirement.
I enjoyed reading your lines and found it so much relatable too.
People think that they will have more time for themselves, for doing certain things, but the reality is that we are more busy than before, when we were in a regular job.
But, it’s good to be busy and I agree with your wife.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful post.
    Take care.

What a delightful and meaningful poem, John. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I loved where you said, "I need to hire a crew." smile

You and your wife are incredibly blessed to have each other. I always enjoy reading about how you love and care for each other. May God continue to bless you both. smile

Every week, I also feel like this week flew by quicker than the last. Lol!

Take care and keep smiling, my friend.
Blessings to you and your loved ones!

Thank you so much for sharing John's excellent hub, Di. Much Love!

Wonderful poetry, John. It is good that you are busier after retirement. Activities keep your health fit and away from diseases. This was a good treat for me right before dinner in the late evening. I adore all that you wrote in your poem regarding your current activities. Wish you all the very best.

Thank you, Chitrangada, for sharing John's post.

I love this poem, John, and I guess retirement is not for you! However, it is good to stay busy, but I still understand wanting a day off now and then.
I was happy to find the poem before Hubpages moves it.

Thanks for posting John's poem, Chitrangada.

Hello Pamela. I wouldn’t say retirement isn’t for me. Just that I am busier than I ever seem to have been before. That probably isn’t true but it sure seems that way. Thanks for reading.

John has shared some lovely and interesting thoughts about retirement. The situation requires many plans and sometimes involves problems. I’m glad John is doing what he enjoys and is busy, though it seems that he needs more time to relax.

You are right, Alicia...I need more time to relax, but then if I sit back for too long I feel like I should be doing something. Can't win.

John, I saw this poem on my feed, knew I had to read it and immediately looked for the forum to comment. Your sentiment about retirement is so real, very well done. I instantly thought about my husband as I read through every line and stanza. I will share the link with him. You speak for so many people who grapple with the myth of "retirement." Thank you for writing this gem. Thanks for sharing, Chitrangada.

A thoughtful piece on retirement John.I loved the term "snoredom" and that is what I also would be doing in my spare time. Thanks for sharing this poem.

    Thanks Chitrangada for sharing.

Me too. I prefer to be busy than bored. I can relate to the false expectation of having spare time. You captured the feelings of many, I imagine. Great, as always. Thanks for expressing our thoughts so accurately. Thanks, Chitrangada, for sharing.

Hi MsDora, yes, busy is much better than bored I agree. I just need a day here and there to recover before the next round of activity smile
I am glad I managed to express these feelings accurately. Thanks for reading as always.

I loved that poem. it describes the last 10 years of my life completely. My daughter once said, "Mom, you busier now than you've ever been!" She was right. Thanks, John, for putting it so well, and thanks, Chitrangada for sharing it.

Thanks for sharing this, Chitrangada. I loved it and yes retirement is not relaxing--honestly, I relaxed more running two executive accounts. I love being me and being creative.

John I am happy I slowed down and logged on to read this--it is a five-star poem.

Keep them coming our way and he happy you have someone to share this retirement life with every second,

    Bobbi Purvis

Hi Bobby, thanks for the generous comment. I guess when we retire we have more time to do the things we didn't have time to do when we were “working,” but it certainly is no less. I am fortunate to have someone to share my retirement with though, and don’t take that for granted. Blessings.
