Ms. Dora wrote an interesting article about the voices in her head and the "imposter syndrome" that she thought she was experiencing.

Mr. Dora I think a writer always voices inside their heads as we are thinking of what we want to write of maybe questioning what we wrote. I enjoyed reading your article. You are a good writer!

Dora, I love the way you decribe your voices and finally know which voice to heed. Go for it- be the best writer, the best person you can be that God allows. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you Pamela for sharing Dora's work.

So, it seems this voice was from a far away family member who once held aspirations of being a writer, whether they achieved that or not. This voice may have resurfaced because deep down you still feel that holding you back, you needed to face it and be rid of it.
You are a great writer with God-given talent MsDora and your articles are an encouragement and inspiration to many others. Discard that nagging voice and listen to others that matter.
Thank you for sharing this, Pamela.

John, I appreciate your opinion: "deep down you still feel that holding you back." This is quite possible. The voice shocked me because I hadn't consciously thought about that person or their ambition for a long time. Upon reflection though, I was likely to hear that line again (Remember I'm the writer in the family) if that person was listening when I gave my consent to the newspaper editor. Just goes to show what powerful control the mind has over us. My writing about it was my attempt to face it, expose it and get rid of it. Thanks, John.

    Hello MsDora,
An engaging and reflective piece of writing.
I can relate to the ‘voices in our head.’ And especially, for the writers this is so true. A writer’s mind is always active, whether they are writing or not.
    Nice read as always.
    Thank you for sharing.
    Thank you Pamela.

Thanks for sharing these thoughts, Dora. It seems many writers hear this same voice from time to time. It is encouraging to hear how you have handled it.
