It was an online writing job, for the Examiner.com based in Milwaukee (?) I am soooo nervous about this. Besides HubPages, which was easy to get into, this will be the first writing job I have applied for! First I had to explain why I felt qualified to write on the subject, then I had to include the URL for an online writing sample containing the subject matter I was applying for - all I had was a poem! Then I had to write a 200-300 word sample - that wasn't a problem, but it took about an hour. Then I had to write my own bio!
I am sooo nervous...oh yeah, I already mentioned that. lol
Anyway, I applied with my real name but used my online name in the bio - cuz that's the name I want to be published with. Do you think they will understand? There wasn't anywhere for me to explain....
This is fantastic and I think everyone here wants to support you. Go for it babes... rich for the stars and you will achieve!
God Bless to you rafini, GO, GO, I pray you get that job!
Okay Rafini BREATH!!! BREATH!!! You'll be okay. I am sure that they will understand what name you want to be published as and if not just explain it to them
Keep us posted!
Good luck Rafini! Crazd is right... You need to breathe!
Very exciting stuff though, hope it all works out.
Hey way to go. good luck my friend! Hope you get the job. Keep us informed will you?
You will find a lot of Hubbers are also examiners
Hubpages and the examiner
Im an examiner too!
The application process was completed really quickly on their end
good luck im sure youll make it considering your level of work here
Thanks everybody. I just never thought I would actually ever get to this point, ya know? I am almost giddy with excitement, anticipation, fear, and just plain old thrilled to maybe be able to earn a living writing!
BTW - is it another site like hubpages, or more like an actual online newspaper? I saw the 'ad' in an email for writers jobs and just followed the link.
no...its not really all that similar to hubpages, it has mor ein common with associated content, but due to the application process and editorial review it is a more reputable source for your own writing portfolio/resume etc.
i think a forum search will show more of the hubbers that are examiners too, plus the comments at that hub.
Remember you are paid via impressions at examiner, so alll the tricks that arent that great for adsense and referral sales are worthwhile there.
twitter, social traffic, forum posting (relevant) and incorporating your topic with recent (rankable) trends
groovy! i was going to do that but i thought you had to use your real name, so i turned them down.
Yeah ... I'm interested in this, too, but lack your passion and eagerness. LOL.
I applied yesterday morning and just (literally) got my acceptance email. That's why I searched the forums for this topic, to see what others are saying.
Looks interesting. Yet one more thing to figure out, though, in terms of ranking, etc. Just when I was started to get a (small) handle on HP...
Isn't isn't a word, congratulate the man for his accomplishment.
I did not know that you are a woman. Congratulations in everything you do in life.
I am applying to be an examiner as well. At the moment I have sort of frozen up on writing their 200-300 words I think I have performance anxiety. I wish you luck. Hearing someone else is nervous makes me feel better. My thanks for your unintentional moral support.
Well, I didn't get it.
I think the reason is because I didn't have the right kind of writing sample (all I had was a poem)...or maybe they didn't need anyone for the topic I chose or something. Oh, well. I'll just have to keep trying, I guess.
Thanks, everyone, for your support.
its ok, next time again, trr and try with other sites

Was curious after seeing most of the long term - experienced Hubbers. So thought of doing some research. Topic explains it. Let's try to be truthful here. What really keeps you going on here on HP? Why should Hubpages be the First choice for any Writer? Please try to support your idea with...

Hi, Im sorry, but I am so excited. I just landed a freelance job writing for Examiner.com. Besides hubpages, this is the only one that I have been able to get paid for my writing since I came back from my sabbatical that lasted almost 4 years. I used to be a full time freelance writer until a life...

I don't know why but the views of all articles written by me have gone down which suggests that HubPages and other sites associated with them are going down in the rankings. Note that I had several successful articles on multiple sites like LevelSkip and ToughNickel. Now everything has gone to...

The discussion forum "Fiction Writers - Please Introduce Yourselves" (located at http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/91914 started by Website Examiner) is almost two years old. Website Examiner is no longer on HP. As I scrolled through the posts, I also noticed some of the hubbers are...
