What is the best way to clean a really filthy bathtub?
I've neglected mine a bit... it's pretty gross. The grout around the tiles has some moldy spots, the floor is stained, and there are areas of the tub, and an area around one corner is stained. I've tried to scrub it clean a couple of times, but it doesn't improve significantly- what's the best way to get this dang thing sparkling clean again?
As far as grout is concerned, make a paste with water and baking soda and spread it on the dirty grout. Let it sit for a while, then scrub it with an old toothbrush. That should help get the grout white and clean again. Baking soda can probably help you with the rest of it, too, but depending on how bad it is, a bleach solution may be the best option. Hope you have success!
A product called CLR is very effective, but it requires gloves and is VERY strong. It works wonders - but a bit pricey. For my tub I use this trick about ever 3 months for those tougher stains and spots. Just before work I will dump an entire gallon of bleach into the tub and run hot water. I'll let this mixture sit in the tub ALL day. At the end of the day I will drain the tub and give it a good rinse and scrub. It really helps keep those icky stains and residue at bay during those in-between cleanings - Happy scrubbing
I've had the best luck cleaning bathtubs with Comet and a scouring pad. Just wet it a little, let the Comet stand there for a few minutes, then scrub. If that doesn't take it off, I've also found that Lysol toilet bowl cleaner is pretty effective. (If you do try the toilet bowl cleaner, be sure to wear rubber gloves.)
Same here, MsBizPro! I've found that the abrasive quality of Comet works wonders on a dirty tub. Simone, you might also try Mr. Clean Magic Erasers. The combination of Mr. Clean and Comet is too much for those stubborn stains - they don't stand a chance!
Along with some of the other suggestions, I have heard that there are Mr. Clean erasers for the tub, which might help with those stains. Tilex works wonders for me with mold--spray it all over and let it sit for a whilebefore scrubbing, but make sure to ventilate the room as the smell is quite strong. After you get everything sparkling clean, keep up with basic maintenance every few days by spraying Tilex after you shower/bathe and letting it sit for 15 minutes before rinsing it clean. You'll have to scrub and get rid of mold less often. Good luck!
As a maid, I will tell you to use Lysol toilet bowl cleaner. Apply it around the rim of the tub and let set for 5 minutes, make sure that it is evenly coated. Rinse the tub out, use soft scrub and a magic eraser on any areas that still need extra attention. Rinse and wipe clean, tada clean tub If you are working on shower walls, use soft scrub and a tooth brush on the grout. Do not touch anything chrome with any type of bleach product or it will turn black. Rinse and wipe clean.

How do I clean the jets in my Jacuzzi tub.I have a Jacuzzi tub and cleaning the jets is a major pain. If there is an easy way, besides using my fingers a wash cloth, and a baby bottle brush, please let me know. I've tried spraying them with bathtub cleaner and letting it sit and wash it...
