Most Israeli Jews say they are Happy to Practise Apartheid

A poll was carried out recently by Haaretz, Israels rough equivalent of the New York Times.  Unfortunately, the paper uses a pay wall online so the following report is from the Guardian newspaper.

"More than two-thirds of Israeli Jews say that 2.5 million Palestinians living in the West Bank should be denied the right to vote if the area was annexed by Israel, in effect endorsing an apartheid state, according to an opinion poll reported in Haaretz.

Three out of four are in favour of segregated roads for Israelis and Palestinians in the West Bank, and 58% believe Israel already practises apartheid against Palestinians, the poll found.

A third want Arab citizens within Israel to be banned from voting in elections to the country's parliament. Almost six out of 10 say Jews should be given preference to Arabs in government jobs, 49% say Jewish citizens should be treated better than Arabs, 42% would not want to live in the same building as Arabs and the same number do not want their children going to school with Arabs."

This is no surprise to anyone living outside the US, of course. But inside the US it will never be mentioned.

And I suppose you think if the roles were reversed the Palestinians would let Jews vote? I think voting would be the least of the Jews problems.

You seem to think that there is no kind of political solution possible in Israel and apartheid is justified. Or would you prefer ethnic cleansing?

I think the Israelis will do the right thing and the Palestinians will continue to do the wrong thing!

So the Israelis are the good guys and the Palestinians are the bad guys? Now I understand. I was thinking they were people.

U.S. being the ally of Israel does not mean we are her lapdog. A fair and equitable settlement for both parties has to be the goal not just giving in to Israel demands because she is the "only democracy in the region: It is sort of dumb and naive to think that the world is as simple as black hats and white hats, but that is rightwing reasoning 99% of the time, regrettable

There is something between good and bad? We are not Israels lapdog we support a country that wants to live in peace, those surrounding Israel don't want peace they want Israel and Israelis dead! There is nothing between right and wrong, liberal logic on parade.

Get a grip, the Palestinians are not the ones advocating apartheid. And before you come back with; liberal logic, liberal agenda, don't you just love the liberal way of thinking, you might want to educate yourself (although I very much doubt it) those who oppose daft, unsubstantiated claims are not always liberal. Believe or not Repairman, there are more than two ideologies in the world.

If you truly believed that there was nothing between right and wrong in the world, you would never try to justify apartheid. But you do, says quite a lot about you.

You've said this one too many times, odd though, as I've sparred with you for more than a year! Why now, is this how you behave when you can't sling insults or summon a reasonable counter response? Still, doesn't matter, I couldn't care less. lol

You're so funny Repairguy. If, and I say if, you have been banned (is that what you're getting at?) has it occurred to you that it may have been down to something that you've said to me, or to others? We have argued many times, and insults have been flung either way-  but I have not had you banned. Frankly, if I had, I'd find it funny, you'd no doubt deserve it. Anyway, it matters not, keep on telling yourself that I speak to moderators and that there are only Republicans and Liberals in the world.

Oh, oblivion, the sanctuary of the ignorant. lol

Nothing surprising about it, Israel is the heartland of intolerance and racism in the modern world and it's only getting worse so of course they have conservative support.

Well, you have to remember that there are plenty of decent Israelis. Haaratz is their chief voice and has campaigned for a just political solution to the conflict.

The problem is that these people have been excluded from government for the last thirty or forty years.

Instead, we have seen a succession of vicious, nationalistic governments who are only interested in a military solution.

It is no surprise Obama won't sit in the same room as Benjamin Netanyahu. It is one thing using the country for strategic objectives and quite another making nice to thugs.
