Why most people hate honest criticism of their defects?
Why most people hate honest criticism of their defects? They should appreciate it because the critic is affording them a chance for betterment.
LOL do you really like it when people criticize your defects? Nobody wants to hear what they're doing wrong. Besides, most of us know what our flaws are anyway. We just don't care enough to fix them.
No one enjoys criticism and when one puts themself in the position of being the one who criticizes, it seems that they are better than you and here they are pointing out your faults.
We are all flawed and really should not get into the habit of pointing out someone else flaws. If someone asks you, then that is another matter.
People have a mental image of themselves which basically controls their behavior on a daily basis. That image is constant reassurance to them that they do have the proper qualities and "cool" necessary to function successfully in the world. When someone criticizes that image, they do not take it well because it takes them into areas that they do not want to go. They believe they know themselves but until they can respond positively to criticism and alter behavior as a result, they really are not in touch with their true person. Life offers all of us a chance to grow and mature. If we close a blind eye to that opportunity, we become "tunnel vision" people. We have the power of observation within our skill set as a human. If one watches others closely enough, there will be more than enough messages in terms of altering our own approach to life and those around us. In that way, we can grow and mature without the criticism. WB

I find that most of the comments on hp are either thanking or reassuring the writer. I think hubbers believe it's worth more petting the writer on the back than telling him or her if something feels wrong. This way we might miss great opportunities to give our fellow hubber a chance to 1. see...
