What are your thoughts about the War In Afghanistan?

Do you think it is time for all foreign troops to leave the country?

I'm not sure...terrorist groups still have a presence there...HOWEVER, they also exist in Pakistan, and we have some sort of bullshit "peace agreement" with them so we've never fought very much there even when we needed to.  And...nothing's happened to us.  I think that we should focus more on protecting ourselves here and not killing our people's kids in the hopes that maybe something could be eradicated someday in the very vague future.

But thank Jesus the completely needless war in Iraq is over!

Foreign troops never should have gone to Afghanistan. Did you read James Michener´s "Caravans"? Gives some insight on Afghanistan and being published in 1963 the ideas are what i call farsighted.
Of course the Taliban way of running a society is certainly diametrical to western democracy´s way. But that does not allow any power to intervene.
The whole plot is a pure NATO game play with the US in the lead. Should be ended as soon as possible. And in the aftermath of the show people come up with ideas like protecting natural resources like rare earth minerals.

I am pretty sure Napoleon and Alexander the Great did not bother to try to subdue Afghanistan. They knew better - obviously our leaders do not know better ...

After a decade of war and people dying, we can now see the uselesness of this war. Perhaps we can learn from our mistakes ...

In my opinion, our invasion of Afghanistan was a mistake. The Taliban hosted Al Qaeda, but otherwise was not a threat to the United States. All the Taliban wants is for NATO troops to leave Afghanistan. However, now that we are there we should honor our commitments to the government in Kabul and wind down military action in an orderly manner with all deliberate speed. Our killing of Bin Laden in Pakistan proved that the invasion of Afghanistan was unnecessary as well as very costly in money and lives.

a complete waste of time and a great way to give terrorists a reason to hate us. you can't change a country that lives by rediculous religious beliefs and we have no right trying to.

My thoughts are that the commander there has absolutely no military strategy in place. It's just like Iraq or Vietnam and we're going to have to leave with our tail tucked between our legs again. I think it's transforming our military into a caste of resentful idlers and liars and it's bankrupting our treasury. President Obama has ruined us with Afghanistan. We have nothing anymore. The sun is setting on us and rising in the far east, where China will once again take up its favored position in the world after a 500-year hiatus.
