Sometimes I wonder if Jesus would have supported the concept of National Health care, Social Security, Medicare, Unemployment, and food stamps for the less fortunate.
To a certain extent both parties believe in redistriubting wealth whether it be raising taxes on the "rich" or creating "loop holes" and providing "corporate welfare/subsides".
Neither Democrat or Republican can lay claim to standing on "higher ground". Ultimately when you get right down to it only (congress) can enact and pass laws. A president may have an agenda but he or she does not write legislation nor can they get it passed unless the votes are in congress. This also explains why it matters very little if a candidate is "pro-life" or "pro-choice" the laws on these types of issues generally do not change regardless who is in office. We've also learned recently that having a "conservative" Supreme Court does not mean they will always vote conservative.
Obama would have never been elected president if the country had a booming economy in 2008!
Personally I think we need to refuse to get caught up in the hype of who is president. Both men are multi-millionaire elitist. Our best is to learn how to take care of ourselves and play the cards we are dealt regardless of who is elected to the figure head position.
I don't think that Jesus would have supported those handouts for the lazy and slovenly. Give a man a fish and he eats for a day - but teach a man to fish and he eats for a life time. Both sides have made mistakes but Obama is forever changing the USA

What the Bible said about the poor and redistribution: .http://library.generousgiving.org/articles/display.asp?id=301
Refer to section: For the Israelites, a People of Special Concern to God
Grand old lady - just to clarify - there is "poor" and there is "lazy" if someone works but is poorly paid even - I can definitely see giving them a hand and teaching them how to better their income. If someone is lazy it is often a character flaw
He can redistribute his won money and keep his hands off of my stack.
The Frog
I will second that one Frog! Leave mine alone - I work hard and I do not want to take care of the free loaders.
It just confirms what we have known since he began his first run for President. All I can conclude is his supporters either agreee with the belief, don't care as long as they get a shore of what someone else has worked for, or they turn a blind eye to it.
AJ - Back during that campaign I would point out the truths about Obama and would get back, "You lie. You lie." Even after I gave them links to read for themselves they wouldn't accept the truth. It's called denial. They still do it today.
Very true AJ - but it is up to all of us who still believe that America should be #1 to remind others of what we are about to lose if Obama wins in November.
It is actually worse than just this. The Occupy Movement loves this video however, perhaps they should read the President's book. He is not only for redistribution on a national scale, but on a global scale. Making the entire US part of the 1%.
Scarey stuff isn't it - wish more folks would see it for what it really is.
Typical socialist president! Obama stated this when he was still a Senator in Illinois in 1998, He intends to carry this out. Even though he is wealthy himself, he seems to want to punish those who are successful and affluent. President Obama seems to have an ethos against the successful. Remember, his speech that if a person is successful, he/she did not do it at all!
President Obama wants to reward those who are less successful by giving them handouts. He stated in his 1998 speech at Loyola University that when income is redistributed, everyone gets a break. In other words, he believes that those who are lazy and/or choose not to be successful should live well like that person who works hard/smart for a living!
Agreed. The problem is that when you give handouts to those who did not earn for themselves, you destroy any incentive to go out and achieve. Instead of spreading wealth you are spreading poverty.
The creation of "The Great Society" has been a disaster. I suspect it was designed to "keep people in their place" rather than help lift people out of poverty. It has proven to be an abject failure.
Absolutely Frog and now everyone hates the President who did it... no wait he is the most or the third most popular president in American history, never mind then.
Obama and his wife are self made people who worked their way up. They are living examples of all that you believe in, in your economic system. However, he also knows that even more people can succeed with help, not a handout.
Yes, Obama believes in redistribution. So what? Why are people acting shocked and upset? Every President and administration has redistributed income through taxes and various government programs for at least the last 100 years! Were ALL those presidents and politicians socialists? Are you upset that Farmers get paid "Not to Farm" and oil companies get subsidies from Congress with our tax dollars? Why not? That is also "redistribution."
Yes I am. I have a problem with all subsidies and handouts. Oil industry, solar companies, farmers...all of it. I consider it all wrong. Let both people and business succeed or fail on their own.
So Marxist ideology is alright because everyone has been doing it? Really? I know you're smarter than that. That's totally illogical thinking.
Mr. AJ - I appreciate your honesty. My problem is with people who "hate Obama and Dem because they shift money around, but pretend that Rep presidents and congressmen don't do the . They ALL do it, just in different ways.
America is the Land of Opportunity - NOT the land of "you make it so we can give it to the lazy and unmotivated......"
Subsidies aside, Barack Obama believes that everyone should 'make' the same, all should be fair and equitable. What about keeping the fruits of your labors; " the trouble with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money."
I don't "believe" anything. But I think that redistribution is not a valid solution to any economic problems. Plus, I don't like poor people and don't want them around me, my neighborhood, or my money.
HAHAHAAH someone agreed with the comment love it.
Old E - NOT what we are saying at all...... Childish
Someone agreed Conservative Lady, genuinely agreed... Good luck in a couple of weeks
you don't like poor people; that sound awfully bigoted. I'm poor, but your neighborhoo, your money would be safe with me. geez Empressario, I surely hope you're joking; arrogance they name is Old E!
Redistribution is fine with me, and I say, the sooner the better. Read any of the statistics on who has benefited from the recovery, the income gap increases in the past 30 years, or who has received tax breaks since 2001? Redistribute as fast as humanly possible.
So you do not mind working hard, earning a pay check and having to give a big chunk of it to the Government to supplement the lazy and unmotivated or the lifers on welfare. Makes absolutely no sense to me that the hard workers get penalized - I quit!
Redistribution is theft by a different name. Why should someone else benefit for my hard work? Why should someone who decided not to go to college benefit because I did? Look how well redistribution (socialism) worked in Europe - Greece.
Nope, sure don't. It's what has made America work well for the previous 50 years. It's the top 1%'s greed that has gotten us to the point we are at today.
You are not being rationale - giving money to the lazy and unmotivated is "OK" with you but someone who works hard to build a lucrative business and become the top 1% is a problem.....
''Redistribution is fine with me, and I say, the sooner the better'' When it comes from the government it don't work too good. 24 million unemployed and 47 million on food stamps. The poor and the middle class don't provide JOBS. WAKEUP!
Lady and Jon: I'm wide awake. There are two philosophies of how this country should be run. You are of one school of thought and I am of another. I'm happy for people to be rich, I just don't think we should give them an unfair advantage.

I don't agree with redistribution in everything. Those who work hard, shall keep their share more or less. But we all should work as a team to get a proper Health Care somehow. Why shall those who are unfortunate and not be rich, die and suffer from their health and the rich can just go and see a doctor, go to the hospital and be cured. Health should not be depending on your wealth. Do you know if you will get into a car accident tomorrow? Can you plan for it? So, how do you pay for the hospital? Is it your fault that your child gets cancer and then you cannot pay for it? Does that sound fair?
Yet, I am not sure about this Health Care Plan that is going to hit us soon....but I know something needs to happen.
We already have so many Government Health care plans that do not work (Medicare, Medicaid, Military) - they need to turn it all over to the Private Sector and offer tax incentives to those companys that come up with the best plan to cover all comers.
redistribution: I won't ask you, I'll just take the fruits of your labor as I sit on my touché. It may sound nice and give us warm fuzzes that we're sharing, but no one promised us a FAIR world and if you want that kind of fair, go someplace where that is the norm. NOT HERE.
After a while, nobody will have anything and people will PHYSICALLY fight for the little others have and we;ll be on our way to tyranny or a revolution. Think hard, cause how many people did we lost in the last revolution?
