As a voter for President Obama, are you now upset about the Cliff Dump?

Your new tax will land somewhere between 5 and 12 percent or your spendable pay based on your taxable income and health coverage insurance.  Are you unhappy now that you have less to spend for your family?

Curious, no responses yet seven hours later.
Watching interviews on the news today, it was interesting to see the middle class reaction to the automatic 2% increase in payroll taxes this week.
Most people didn't realize that the entire tax base had a 2% increase in their taxes!
They thought that it was only going to happen to those rich people above $200000 of income.
I guess the reality of having 2% less this year speaks much louder than all the politicians and liberal press outlet opinions.

Yes, I will be amazed if anyone who voted for the President is willing to admit their mistake.  He recevied 50.1% of votes cast. only 56% of voters voted.  This means 28% of voters like him -19%on welfare -that means that 9% of taxpeyers like him

taburkett: I wasn't aware that everybody who is on welfare voted for Obama. I'd like to see those statistics. The actual statistic, I believe, is 4.1% which also includes children receiving aid. I didn't know they could vote.

Georgia - the 4.1% is the govs magic math.  the piggies of the gov have 12% on welfare assistance (food stamps, subsidized housing, etc. and not paying taxes)and 6% receiving extended unemployment payments.  these people should be working.

taburkett, Having numerous friends on government assistance, I assure you of two things.

      1) Many of them ARE working. They just don't make enough in a crappy job to cover their bills.

      2) Many of them dislike Obama.

My good man, to quote a classic movie character, 'what's with all these negative vibes?'.

To be politically correct that 2% change in dollars withheld from your paycheck is not due to a tax increase.  Srictly speaking that money you no longer receive is due to the end of a tax relief period, where that money was not being withheld from your paycheck.  You have to get with it, there was no increase in taxes, so there is nothing for you to get upset about.  You should be thankful for having more to spend while they let you keep it.  And besides, that extra two percent will be re-distributed to those who need it.  It's called Social Security.  And those other things that you might think of as taxes?  They don't matter, they only apply to 'rich' people, they can afford it.  Positive vibes, man, positive vibes.

Did anyone see a flying pig recently?

yep - the pig flew when the government increased my taxes thru obamacare.
if the government would work on creating jobs instead of increasing taxes they would actually produce more revenue.
redistribution has not worked in any society for the poor

Ask anybody if their paycheck is a little lighter lately.  Who cares what entity caused this reduction in our paychecks, the fact remains that we all have less money to spend this year.... Don't make excuses for the brain dead politicians.

      facts are not excuses.
      obamacare increased my taxes.
the government did not create jobs - the number of employed at the end of 2012 is less than 2011.
redistribution by government has never the lif of any poor citizen of any country.

It's not about voting for Obama. It is the disfunction of congress and the senate which allows our economy to continue to have problems. I have an plder employee who depends on a monthly check from the government to suppliment his income. If it were up to Republicans, this would have been cut. How does that help hime survive? The Democrats made the Republicans take that off the table. Is this an example how we should be doing things? Right now our government is rerally messed up. Quit worrying about which side does what, it's a problem for everyone.

Oh yes, the "dysfunction of Congress" you got that right.
Make your self heard if you don't like what you see, point your fingers back at the government and not at your fellow citizen.

Personally, I didn't.  I voted for Jill Stein.  Even so, the increase is only 2% and that is because the payroll tax holiday we never should have passed in the first place expired.  That tax holiday took money from the SSA while only giving people at most less than $2,500 when the average American's credit card debt is $5000, to say nothing of mortgages, medical bills, student loans and car loans.  http://money.msn.com/taxes/news.aspx?fe … =15949410.  What we really need is to eliminate the payroll tax ceiling and stop letting people like Warren Buffett collect Social Security benefits while still working.

From what I understand, the perceived tax increase is due to the expiration of the tax relief given from the economic stimulus package, and had nothing to do with the proposed tax hikes associated with the fiscal cliff. However, uniformed voters will just freak out at the sight of a smaller paycheck. One of the things the president frequently talks about is the difficulty of getting ourselves out of debt and the shared sacrifice that will take. So, when I voted for him, I wasn't expecting the puppies and rainbows Romney was proposing. I wanted a president who was going to solve the problem; not pretend it didn't exist. Sometimes that solution is going to hurt; I knew that going in. In fact, I wanted us to go over the fiscal cliff because congress was so inept it was our only hope of ever doing anything to stop the debt.

you can keep dreaming - there are no solutions in the bill buttered by the President.  this revenue will not put a dent in the interest being generated by the defict budget he has requested.  The next dream failure will be the increase to debt limit

I must admit I abstained from voting. I'm pretty sure our votes would have somehow shown Obama to win no matter what.

That said, things are progressing pretty close to what I expected. (Prepare sarcasm font) I look forward to our future civil rights infringements and tax increases to cover the "decreased spending" our leaders are enacting.

I see not just Obama making awful changes, but the whole of our three branches.

that is why we, the citizens must make better judgements. we must demand that our elected officials follow the Constitutional guarantees rather than institute laws based on partisan chaos.

I agree with you. Sadly, I have little hope that the people in our country will open their eyes to this fact soon enough.

If we do not have a change in focus, our focus will be changed for us.
