If it WEREN'T for the United States of America, what would the condition of the world be like?

Is the world BETTER or WORSE because of the United States of America?

It is a difficult question to answer, and of course we think we did some much good for the world, but we did our share of making things worse.
We didn't help Eastern Europe during WWII, Eastern Europe went from free countries to occupied by the Nazi to being occupied by the USSR. This developed into the Cold War.
We lost Vietnam during the War, and it cost the lives of our Military, and many of the people on both sides.
We developed the Middle East Oil and they then created OPEC to control the world's oil.
We unsuccessfully meddled in the Middle East making a volatile area even worst.
The list goes on, and continues today.
I love this country, but that doesn't mean that I can turn a blind eye on what it has failed to do around the world. We have troubles domestically that our government only makes worse, so why should it be different when they take their act our on the road.

Feeding people around the world is not the same as helping people help themselves. And BTW, the US has seen an increase of homeless and hungry people in America since 2008. Charity should begin at home. If we can't solve our own hunger and homeless issue here, then how well do you think we are doing abroad?
    Delete this for any reason.

Ultimately, I don't think too much would be different.

The US would be proxy colonies of England, France, and Spain and they would all wage war against each other--not too different there. And they would still harvest the resources available and would still create a ton of technological marvels--not too different there.

The only difference is that the micro-nations that come up with the big inventions would be their own world powers, as opposed to sharing the status with the rest of the landmass. California would basically become its own dominant superpower and conquer much of the land around it and influence the world at large. Then again, that's not too different from how it is now.

Eh, not much would be different after all.
