Where are the Trump equivalent on the Democratic side for 2020?

In 2016, we had a Trump candidate on the GOP along with 16 other candidates running for President. Trump jumped into the mix because he believed non of the other 16 candidates can beat Hillary and the Democratic machine including the biased media...
He also said the main reason he is running is to save the country from the decline for his grand children...hence MAGA slogan...
He beat the odds and won.

I am asking the same question regarding the liberal left...
If they really thought the country is going in the wrong direction, and that Trump is destroying America as we knew it, and that his appointment to the Supreme court are so extreme...where are these people?
Where is Oprah? Or the other liberal progressives who has the money and the time and the popularity to run and beat back Trump?
So far, I don’t see anyone stepping up? How come?
Could they be scared to loose or worse, could they be lying to themselves all along...?

Democrats had their populist candidate in 2016. It was Bernie Sanders--the only man who could have beaten Trump. But the DNC is a corrupt organization. They rigged the primaries, made deals with the Superdelegates and, in the end, hijacked the 2016 convention and split their party into catastrophe. Even when they talked Sanders into endorsing Clinton, it wasn't enough. There was a huge protest from the populists within the DNC when right-wing Democrat Clinton was pushed forward as the candidate. The Democrats will never support Sanders now, because they blame him for Clinton's defeat in 2016 against Trump. It's a bad organization. If they can find a female candidate who is a populist and who doesn't cry like a baby when President Trump insults her, they might put her forward. That rules out Elizabeth Warren.

Incredibly  true !  Sanders is a fool for socialism not even fully understanding how it has decimated Europe, south and central America ,  You're right about the internally implemented corruption of the DNC , the  superdelegates ,  .......Warren is a nimrod of the highest order .  Stein at this point facing campaign finance laws,   Hillary said yesterday she was ".......too tired to even stand up ..........."     They have no candidates and it couldn't please us more to realize the eventual death by suicide  of the DNC . Perhaps in it's wake will arrive some new organization separated from from it's evil twin , the mind manipulating mainstream media .

You make some great points about the last election but what about the future?
Who will they have stepping forward that is an outsider and willing to take on the establishment and do the bidding of the people?
This new 28 years old Alexandria Cortez from NY is not it...

I am often amazed at how daft and forgetful people can be...

        1) Obama was the Democrat's 'populist' candidate before Trump. He was not the first choice of career dems the year he was elected; and he was groomed & prodded by rebel dems who wanted change within their party and the government as a whole. Sound familiar? Do any of you even remember the heated nomination race between him and Hillary? The GOP & Fox both were having a hayday making fun of the dems infighting. It was just like Trump's nomination run with all that infighting... Well, not JUST like it, but you know what I mean, ha! It got harsh at times.

        2) There is no way on God's green earth that Bernie Sanders would have EVER beat ANY Republican candidate (all things being equal, no one was expecting Trump to win the GOP slot) - because he was too liberal even for Dems with all his free heathcare/college ideals, etc. Very very few Conservatives would have voted for him - if any; and us progressives in the middle would definitely not have voted for him. I know, we are ridiculous with insisting on bipartisan policies, LoL! It was the reason WHY the dems went out of their way to railroad him. Bernie couldn't win under his own party, so he tried to hijack the dems again - and they weren't having it.

        3) Trump is just the GOP's Obama - except he has the personality of a goon. If they had thought for one moment that he had a possibility of winning their party's nomination - you can bet that they would have used the same tactics against him as the dems used against Sanders. But, who would have thought Trump would not only unite hardcore rebel Fox fans; but so many uber-lefties who were pissed that their candidate got duped? Its hysterical that conservatives believe that they - and they alone - voted that man into office. If they realized just how many lefties (that they rant on & on about) were in bed with them at the moment, they'd freak! wink

In any case, Stormie's lawyer came out and said that he would run against Trump next election if he thought there was no one else running who could beat him. It doesn't have to be a dem that beats Trump, LoL!

    You would think we'd all see the cohesion of a direction at least ,in the DNC policy . I believe the DNC is resigned to the Trump re-election and probable lack of blue wave in Nov., they may be absolutely corrupted but not so stupid . They're pretty busy;
    -Fundraising , they are broke.
    -Searching , posing , candidates .
    -Seeking direction, they have none.

They will gear up however for 2024 however .

I hope they are smart enough to get a reputable outsider to run.
They have no chance going with the old guards that are part of the swamp...

100 % agree , look at their options , Biden , Clinton , Sanders , Kaine ,  I mean ..........Pelosi ?   If phenomenon imagemakers  like Obama ,   Oprah , or someone like Looney Clooney .........didn't walk in a trip up their combined electoral intelligence   , they wouldn't collectively be able to buy political capital with a dollar figure .

Wow , I 've got to send that line to Trump .

Hillary isn't running, she's a grandma now doing grandma stuff and I'd love to see Joe Biden take weakling Donny Boy behind the gym and rough him up a bit, but considering Bozo Trump, Pence and many Russian controlled republican congress-persons are headed straight to prison soon if we still have laws and if they are lucky, who will the GOP run in 2020? OJ Simpson perhaps?

Mr. Trump's sadistic cult members adore crazy anti-American traitors who enjoy destroying the USA, their own jobs and quality of life, and those who don't go down with him will desperately need another mentally disturbed individual to sooth their desires:

If you are looking for the Trump equivalents from the left. It's too early. Trump appeared out of nowhere. No one saw him coming. Wait until closer to the beginning of the campaign cycle. Maybe we'll get a pleasant surprise.

Democrats will never " ..........Step up and take on the establishment.................." like Trumpers did in 2016,  Democrats ARE establishment politics !       Democrats are not only establishment politics but they constantly push for more , deeper , more expensive , larger governing establishment  politics .
To democrats the mired establishment is the all knowing answer to all politics. Build it , bigger , "better " , higher and faster .
