If your response to the Black Lives Matter movement is to say that "all lives matter", you're exhibiting racism and need a self-check.

There's a basic question behind the BLM movement. To assume that the BLM movement is attempting to place black lives above other lives is the reaction of racism. It's a typical racist assumption that asking for value or equality is asking for special treatment.

The movement is actually asking whether black lives matter at all. It's a counter to what they see as a systemic assumption that black lives don't matter. BLM is asking that black lives have a value above zero.

Black lives should have the same value as all other lives.

On the other hand, when one complains about excessive police force and the only race that needs help is the black one in spite of being the minority when it comes to police shootings, it appears to be about little BUT race.  If "all other lives" had the same value the protesting, the riots, the unrest all over the country would be about that, but it isn't.  It's about only BLACK lives being lost to police.

Again, not what's being said. BLM is just fighting for being treated the same as other races and not getting systematically targeted.

"Black lives should have the same value as all other lives."

The word all --- used to refer to the whole quantity.
All lives would encompass any and all human beings that walk this earth. All lives having the same value,

It amazes me you could assign such an explanation of the slogan. All Lives Matter. There is no racial aspect assigned to the slogan. Again, you take a simple couple of words and make an attempt to prevail that there is a sinister underlying meaning.

By the way, I must ask --- Your  sentence, "There is a basic question behind BLM movement."  Just what is that question? The sentence makes little sense.

And it may be possible in your view If someone's response to the Black Lives Matter movement is to say that "all lives matter", they are exhibiting racism and need to do a self-check. To say these things so matter a factly you are exhibiting a form of self-importance by assuming others have your view.

Correct me if I am wrong. Black Lives Matter is an organized group that campaigns against systemic racism.  The Slogan all lives matter is inclusive of all lives and shows no racism against any human being. Not sure why a black person would feel slighted to be included in the human race... I would assume the slogan WLM  does not overlook the problem of systemic racism towards black people.

Nobody said they police lives don't matter, but through action, many have said black lives don't matter.

Have they said, through inaction, that police lives don't matter?  When was the last riot over a dead cop?  When did BLM organize a parade of respect for a dead cop?  Have they ever joined the funeral procession?

Just my opinion, but the BLM movement has made it very clear, through complete inaction over any death but a black man, that other lives do NOT matter to them.

When was the last time police beat the crap out of or killed a protester during a Klan rally?

Does every group with a particular mission have to acknowledge and actively champion every other group in order to be recognized as legitimate?

The fact that you and others so badly miss the point is disappointing. It reminds me of "The War on Christmas", which doesn't exist. It's just a bunch of people getting offended because other groups want equal footing. That's all BLM wants, for black lives to be valued the same as other lives.

Police lives have been highly valued since the dawn of the police. Our society has always valued police lives and respected them. BLM is asking for the same value and respect. Why should that offend some people simply because a group is asking for equal treatment?

The fact that many attempt to marginalize the group for such a request is ironic, to say the least.
