There are too many bans on writers these days. I've fell a victim once. Do you see these bans as punishment or discipline against writers? Have you tasted HP ban once?

I've been banned. I'm not complaining. I do see the procedure arbitrary and without a clear explanation of individual violations but if one thinks hard enough about conversations one is involved in,prior to the ban, it is possible to some what hone in on the offense.

If we don't, we whine about it and cry foul. It's just an internet site. Being banned from an online forum isn't the end of the world.

I've been banned once, and that was a year ago. I think it was a time i begun leveraging the forum.                                           Seriously, the discussion about helping the American poor become so heated, I called the fellow writer "bald." So, rule number one, watch your words.

I've been banned more than once.  I suppose I've come to realize I come here to write stories more than engage in discussions.  It's HP forum and they get to monitor it.  There are other places to go if all you want to do is yell at one another about politics, etc.

Readmiken, I agreed. We're adults, and as human beings, we let loss yelling, a low part of our nature.                     HubPages, as a website, is more a public place. It is a place where international citizens gathered. Rule number two, do not yell.

I have been banned a few times. All from becoming personal and insulting another. I felt my bans were provoked. I have learned at this point to just pass by comments I feel could become heated due to conflicting views.

Conversations can become heated and when someone attacks by getting personal it is easy to return as good as you got.

Hey, I don't own the site, they make the rules. It's hard to find a Chat where any moderation is being tended to. I prefer civil conversation, so I appreciate having a moderator.

I do feel bad many have been ban, and it is apparent some have decided to just stay away, perhaps due to being dissatisfied with the forum for one reason or another.

You speak my mind and that of certain others. Getting too personal or even with fellow writers    like as you rightly opined, walk pass with a glance where the comment is getting heated. This should be the third rule.

Yes, I have learned to just "walk pass". I hope to keep the conversation open, and free, but peaceful.

That's good, and I should add a plus in itself.

It is good to have standards and it is good to have peace. How can you write with intelligence if you are afraid of others bullying you?
It is good to protect writers of humble or not so humble opinions from the insults, lies and slander of other writers just because of differences of viewpoints.

I have been banned and learned each time where I crossed the line of politeness or even kindness. Strangely, the feeling of being banned is actually uncomfortable on a psychological level even though the site is just a site. Knowing the consequence of being banned, does make you (me) more careful.

Otherwise, emotions cause things to be said and unleashed ... things which should not be unleashed.

That is being wise. Learnging from one's mistakes. That should be our fourth rule.
