Minneapolis City Council Complains About Lack of Policing After Voting to Eliminate Police Department

"Just three months after voting to dismantle its police department, the Minneapolis City Council complained about the city's insufficient policing at a meeting on Tuesday.
According to the council members—who in June unanimously passed a measure that would disband the Minneapolis Police Department and replace it with a "department of community safety and violence prevention"—Minneapolis residents are witnessing an increase in homicides, assaults, carjackings, and other violent crimes..."

After reading this article I've come to the conclusion that there is something mentally wrong with liberals.  What did the Minneapolis City Council think was going to happen?  You disparage the police, defund them and are shocked they retire and leave?  You say you don't need them...until you do.  I guess the plan to replace the police isn't working out too well there in Minneapolis.  The Minneapolis City Council are simply idiots.

"a department of community safety and violence prevention, which will have responsibility for public safety services prioritizing a holistic, public health-oriented approach."

I don't know what a "holistic" policing approach would be, but it might be fun to speculate.

When a crime is being committed you quickly send a van load of social workers who surround the perpetrator and, sitting cross legged on the ground, sing Kumbaya to them.

This will treat the bad karma they have accumulated and make everything better.  They will no longer have any desire to steal, hurt people or burn stores or cop cars.

See, I told you it would be fun. I was also tempted to find a kumbayah campfire image. Or a Holy man offering incense image. ;-)

Yes!  Bring the guru down off his mountain top and send him on 911 calls to burn incense!

Too damned easy to make a satirical response to that one.

They already came up with a good solution to these problems, years ago... but lets be real, there are politics being played here, too many don't want to fix the problems, they want to exacerbate them, for political gain or ideological agendas.

That was a long 416-page read Ken, so I just scanned the subheadings and bullet points.

My best response would be to reach up and giggle IslandMom's bobblehead.

    Mike:
I saw this article yesterday and thought it was ironic too. The City Council of Minneapolis should learn that you can't have safe streets and a underfunded police department. This reminded me of the quote: “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”― Edmund Burke (1729-1797)

I've come to accept the fact that a liberal doesn't possess the capacity to think through to the logical conclusion if
most of the ideas they come up with were implemented.

I don't know that they can't, but in general they live for only "today", with "tomorrow" ignored.  They aren't concerned with long term results of their programs.
