Are trees racially offensive to black people? No seriously are they?

A Portland school district is delaying their vote on a new school mascot due to them fearing that their new mascot idea might be associated with lynching of black people during the ye old days.  Oh boy.   The new mascot they were going to vote on from my understanding was like a tree, but they're scared the mascot might remind people of how racists used to hang black people off tree branches with a rope.   Here's an article link to know more:

    https://www.dailywire.com/news/trees-ar … o-lynching

So what are your thoughts on this?  Is the school's concern over this issue valid?  Do you think trees are symbols of racism and oppression?  Or do you think we're all just a world of idiots?  Please discuss.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to chop down some trees and make me some firewood.....damn racist asshole trees....

Trees surround all of us, all the time. Think the blacks are better off to forgot about lynching negative pass and live in the now.

I just wonder if all these woke white people ever ask any black people what they think about what they think will insult them as a race.

I agree, with all the really serious issues that face our Nation we have a media that dwells on the ridiculous.  China deals with Iran. (Reuters) - Russia is building up armed forces near Ukraine’s borders in a threat to the country’s security.  Our borders are totally broken down, with 20,000 migrant children in our custody. Let's just talk about trees or a state enacting their rights to tweak voting procedures. Or masks, let's talk more about masks. Yeah, masks that's the ticket.   Double Sheesh.........

      Knock, Knock.
      Who is there?

Reminds me of here in San Diego county where a school board decided to open classes to in class learning. And, a board member, who is black, said that was racism and white supremacy because teaches/administrators would be told to go back to work. Huh?

I have come to conclude everything has become 'woke'. It is now becoming ho-hum without any real significance and a waste of time. At least to me. I do accept there are times and situations it is valid, but it is now like the grammar police ha-ha wink

Reading the article I go along the obvious an evergreen is the wrong kind of tree to begin with. I like the comment it is a "tree of life" made by another black member of the board.

Totally ridiculous, of course we have nothing against trees.....

      This is a non-issue.

If I recall, isn't there a tree as part of Oregon's vehicle plates?

I built mascots and chariture customs for childrens TV shows for 10 years.

I think a tree would make an excellent mascot for Oregon. Just social distancing for some. Lol.

I wonder if they use toilet paper, which comes from trees, without worrying about being lynched.

That's what always hits me about the woke left. It's like they just fail to think anything through. I've said it for quite some time now (and I hear more and more commentators doing it) this is like a fringe religion. It just gets weirder and weirder as the adherents jockey to be the most pious.

Only a racist could come up with that quandary. I do feel sorry for the 'woke' left.

How is that racist? i have more women girlfriends of colour in my life.

Thinking in the moment saves the unnecessary suffering my parents went through during the world war 2. Same for slavery and lynching. I still love the Germans and American largest ethnic group Germans. We must forget the pass and forgive, it most important for living in the present health and happiness.

When I travel as a white, many locals over charge me, because I am white. I changed my mind set, found out what the real local price is, then hold them to it.

How is that racist? Are your serious? A tree is racist? I'm gobsmacked.

However, I get the being charged more thing. Been there and I don't mind. It isn't a white thing it's an economic  thing. If you are traveling in a third world country, graciously pay the wealth tax levied on your drinks and food. Even with the added cost you are still paying a much smaller percentage of your income for the same meal a local would be charged less for.

A tree would not fight with its branches.

My choices and consequences. I want equality everywhere possible. All I have in my life, is what I give away. Like Jesus, I give to the poor and sick most and discomfort the greedy.
          They got the wrong guy.

The problem, as I see it, is that most everyone wants equality everywhere.

Like those labeled Jesus freaks, the left just thinks only they know what is best. But since they don't appear to think, it's pathetic.

I find politics and Religion very little use in general. Left or right just wings of the same bird. Judging them on top of that is more waste of time. I find community thinking and sharing is much better than Government.

Just want better possibilities , individualism and community can co exist. Freedom is thinking more for others. Uniting is stronger than apart, however we can work that.
