Is this racist?  Why is this ignored by the main stream media?

"A radio talk-show host has revealed that organizers of a black "pride" event at a public park in Seattle are insisting that white people pay a "reparations" fee of up to $50 in order to enter in a race-based manipulation that has the endorsement of mayoral candidate Lorena Gonzalez."

By the literal definition of racism, yes, it is racist.

Do I feel on a personal level that it is racist? Sure, I suppose it is.

Do I feel it is important enough to discuss it and give them more of a platform and attention than they already have? Hell no, and I'm not sure why people do this for the undeserving. I'm sick of the undeserving getting international attention, and the subsequent income that it always seems to bring in from those in support of unfavorable behavior.

Even as part of the LGBTQ+ community myself, and a longtime supporter of racial and sexual equity, I absolutely loathe pride events anyways. It always felt like a way for the worst of the worst to come out and prey upon the unwitting, and every time I attend a pride event the things I see there are jarring, if not scarring to the eyes and mind LOL! Worst of all are the things they purposefully do in front of children who attend, and the parents who encourage it.

Alas, can we not give these racist, predatory people any more attention than they're already receiving? It is becoming increasingly common to act racist, or otherwise unkind and exclusive in the public eye, then asking for forgiveness later solely for the attention it brings; I think we should just smash those marketing tools for the sake of society.

Oh my gosh --- Did white liberals charge them $50.00 to show up and protest in the many BLM protest last summer. What a bunch of BS. Makes one wonder about the intelligence of the people that form, and support these groups.

This kind of action actually hurts their cause. If one is seeking equality you would think they would invite the people that they hope to glean help for their cause.  I am over all this crap.

Sorry, Mike. You know that I am always criticized for refer to Salon as a source for some of the things that I post. Well, I have the same opinion about Wnd.

How about substantiating this with a main stream media source?

        It's not hard to find.

Here is an article about it in Newsweek.  It's actually all over the web.

          Thanks, Mike

This is utter nonsense instigated by LGBTQ people. I am going to oppose any discrimination of this sort.

Indeed, I have no problem with it... so long as they don't target anyone under the age of 18.

My thoughts exactly LtL, I guess to be truly woke, requires much more than jumping through the never-ending hoops...one must open up their wallet, as well. Knock yourselves out knuckleheads.

However, this is how these things start.  If they can do this without pushback, then white people may be required to pay a reparation fee at other local events, then it grows to events in other states, it could even go national events.  It could then turn into a requirement by the government.  If you think this isn't possible, transgender athletes were at one time ignored.  NOW, they are going to compete in the Olympics...and they're not done yet.

No, this thing about white people making reparation payments to see events needs to be strongly challenged right now and in every possible way in the future.

It is not racist. It is capitalistic.  Everybody needs to make money ... somehow.
It is not surprising that the legalities of such a free-market activity was not questioned.
It is still the Wild West, after all. smile

I would have to ask is this a commercial, money making event?  If so then what were the organizes charged for the use of the park?  If nothing then they should not be able to charge admission.  It IS a public park after all, and every time I've ever seen events in a park there is a fee to reserve the park - if that is the case then they are free to charge admission.

Charge admission based on skin color and further divide the country by race.  On the other hand my ancestors came out of Africa tens of thousands of years ago - I should get in free, right?

The charging of $50 for whites is a decision that has been upheld by the Seattle Human Rights Commission.

"In a response to LeFevre and Lipson, the Seattle Human Rights Commission – which describes itself as "22 representative residents of Seattle appointed to serve in an advisory capacity to the Mayor, City Council, Seattle Office for Civil Rights, and other Seattle City departments" – said "the unique nature of your situation does not in fact violate any of your human rights as stated in the U.N. Declaration of Human Rights, which is the charter by which our Commission operates."

"Black trans and queer peoples are among the most marginalized and persecuted peoples within the LGBTQIA2S+ community. They often face shame not only from the cis-heteronormative community, but within the queer community at large as well," the commission wrote. "In making the event free for the Black Queer community, the organizers of this event are extending a courtesy so rarely extended; by providing a free and safe space to express joy, share story, and be in community."

    Extortion

They will have a hard extorting money from those smart enough to simply walk away and ignore their little "pride" function.

(Wonder if that "pride" stems from the ability to squeeze money from people innocent of any wrongdoing?  Is that what they're proud of?)

If whites want to give them reparations on an individual level, they certainly can.
If whites do not want to be charged, well they can ignore the requests and walk right in to the event without opening their wallets. (Who carries cash anyway?)
And what could happen if they do? They get beat up?
It's like kids playing ... pretend world.
Sometimes I wonder if some of these people did not get enough play-time as children and are making up for unmet child-needs as adults.
