This is the new equally and evenly distributed reality our country is heading toward.

Police will be defunded, while at the same time federal authorities will come to your homes to arrest you for making offensive statements online, for an example of how that works just check out London and how they ignore real (physical crimes) while going after 'online offenders'.

    https://www.forbes.com/sites/adamandrze … protection

In 25 major U.S. cities across the country, officials have already cut – or have proposed cutting — funds from police budgets.

However, in as many as 20 of those same cities, mayors and other city officials enjoy the personal protection of a dedicated police security detail. In many cities, this security costs taxpayers millions of dollars per year.

The ruling class will always have protection and different rules that apply to them.

The rest of us are being hoodwinked into losing not only our freedoms, but basic social welfare and protection as well.

So well put... And it confirms my opinion that there is still a good part of our society here in American have wonderful common sense as you have just proved.   It's apparent you are not being hoodwinked, and neither am I.  Keep up the good fight, your words are so appreciated.

I think it is becoming a strange place to live... places like London, New York, LA, will not offer any more liberty than Hong Kong or Moscow.

Large centers, large population areas, will be run by authoritarians that restrict freedoms and liberty while enforcing the craziest of regulations and laws.

The further you get away from those centers the more common sense and sanity you will find, but I'm not sure how long that will last, probably for my lifetime.

I really think the best place for younger generations to be able to enjoy liberty and freedom will not be America, it will be what had once been considered 'backwater' nations, places like Chile or Slovenia, etc.

Low population, low economic nations that aren't the focus of the control efforts of the WB, IMF, WHO, UN, etc.

I agree with you,  places like New York, and LA have large populations of liberals that are very willing to accept authoritarians, and more than willing to become sheep with their freedoms usurped.

Common sense and respect for our wonderful freedoms still appear to have a good foothold in mid-America. I really feel when push comes to shove the majority of Americans will opt for continuing to follow democracy and all the freedoms that come with it.

You must consider, we have always had flakes in our society, and throughout our history, we have placated this sort. However, when it came to them getting out of hand ---  we push back. We are at that point.

I can agree that the younger generation will have good choices in regard to moving to other countries to find better lives if need be. It's a big world.

What people want in America has changed.

Younger people want free Internet and streaming TV, they want Facebook and Iphones.

I have seen a few studies on this, younger generations don't want the hassle and hardship of fulltime work, owning a home, caring for others (parents or children).

We have instant food, online shopping and overnight delivery, more movies and series than anyone could ever watch in one lifetime, more and more Americans are brought up thinking food, shelter, and income is a RIGHT that they have, rather than something to be earned.

These are the generations that are going to let it all slip away, not the ones that will rise up and preserve freedom and liberty.  Only when things get as bad here in America as they currently are in Cuba or Venezuela is that likely to happen.... and even then, maybe not, because people of action will have fled to nations with better opportunity (as I would if I were younger) in much the way I, and many others, fled NY and moved to Florida.

Exactly.  Rush once stated something like “…as long as they have their next ‘iThing’, they don’t know or care what happens in the world.”  And he was right.

It's a story as old as civilization has been around.

The rise and fall of nations.

                Hard Times make Strong Men
                Strong Men build Wealthy Civilizations
                Wealthy Civilizations make Weak Men
Weak Men let it all slip away...

I remember sitting in history class or civics class, hearing about something atrocious which happened in history, raising my hand and asking how could the people let it happen? I don't remember specifically how my Teachers answered...but I imagine it went something along the lines of; it didn't happen overnight, it took time, it wasn't by accident, it was very calculated, they counted on "the people" to be caught up in life, with full plates, unsuspecting....that is how it happens! sad

A total change in thinking must happen. We need to revisit the toughness of the "greatest" generation. We need to revisit their values and positive attitudes. How we rebelled against them! to what end?

We see the beginnings of the end. What have we thrown away and who has left and is leaving the earth? The greatest generation was also known as the silent generation. I think they were too silent. We need to embrace the good they tried to instill. Perhaps they tried to instill their values/expectations/standards without knowing exactly how to instill them with love and acceptance.

Tough love, we need, yet toughness and love are two things which are not easy to combine.
    But combine we must.
One way is by embracing and following common sense boundaries.
The importance of these will be made known as time goes by.
But we can remember what our parent's boundaries were ...
and pass them on to the next generation ... our grand kids.

Maybe then, this generation will have the love, strength and wisdom to take appropriate action. They need to understand the country will perish ...
    if they don't.

Thanks for this freedom of speech.

For that you need strong leadership, brilliant leadership.

Today we have the likes of Pelosi and Biden, they belong in rocking chairs somewhere taking their meds, they are totally out of touch, they have been in DC for decades and they have orchestrated the Nation's current woes as much as any politicians alive today.

With leaders like those two at the helm, there is only one direction this country is going to go.
