This video was interesting and based on a CDC study out of New York and California up through the Delta wave.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25-iJKPA1CA

One big conclusion:  those with previous infections as well as those with vaccines both most protected.

May be able to start counting vaccinated and previously infected people in the protected group.  Checking antibodies of those in the unvaccinated group will let them know if they have had it and are in the protected group.

About 75% of the Covid hospitalized are vaccinated in Nova Scotia Canada. Yet they are doubling their punishment on the unvaccinated.

      It's beyond Insanity.

Yes, because if you look at the study, the most at-risk group for hospitalization and death are the unvaccinated who have not had exposure to the virus.  It's not insanity, it's data.

And prior to omicron, the transmission, hospitalization and death rates were all significantly higher among the unvaccinated.  Again, science based data.

That was true when Covid first came out deadest.

The omicron change it up and very few died.
Eight (11.0 per cent) people have had a third dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
45 (61.6 per cent) are fully vaccinated (two doses).
Five (6.8 per cent) are partially vaccinated.
15 (20.5 per cent) are unvaccinated.

This is much like it is across Canada.

I was grateful to have taken all three doses, my case was very mild. And I attribute it to the vaccine protection, my husband was totally Asymptomatic.

So, in the fall, I will be adding a booster if it's offered along with my yearly flu shot.

It is sad we are collecting a herd in this manner.

82.2% of eligible Canadians are vaccinated, not 61.6%.  Over a third again what you claim.

Just in the past month roughly 6% of the US population got infected.
In the past 2 months together it was some 9%.

No matter what health issues and hardship these infected folks go through, they have to be counted as protected after they overcame the virus. So by now we should start counting the "protected" or "better shielded" and not so much look at pure vaccination numbers.

What is happening in the US is happening everywhere on our planet. Health authorities start to look at the situation differently, not only from the outlook that Omicron is less fatal, but also from the perspective of protection.

Denmark´s current infection numbers are 5 times as high as the US (population adjusted), but deaths are 40% of US numbers. Why?

Because a high percentage of the population is protected. So they get the virus, but don´t suffer very much.

Over time we have learned that vaccination requires renewal, boosters. This implies that all not boostered are no more protected. And from this pool of unprotected all the newly infected are coming from.

All those who had been vaccinated before August last year are no more protected. Should be a huge number in the USA, at least some 50% of the vaccinated. Lets do some maths:
              70% vaccinated / 2 = 35% protected by vaccination
              generous 15% protected by recovery
gets us 50% of the US population protected and 50% not. Seems logical? Now you know where the huge infection numbers in the USA are coming from.

Same maths for Denmark: 65% protected by vaccination, 25% protected by recovery = only 10% succeptible to infection and serious outcomes. This explains the difference.

The dynamics of the pandemic is not rocket science.

Point is, vaccinated and unvaccinated are about the same ballpark of catchng Covid omicron in Canada.

I see dear running across my road on adverge of every 4 days. combined mosquito and car accident by dear deaths each year worldwide death stats. It's about the same as Covid virus deaths each year. Except I am not shutting down my freedom and financial part because of my unvaxxed world of all these 0.009 ways to to die.

Natural immunity is Superior to Delta vaccines says recently CDC.
The omicron is weaker than delta.

I suppose health authorities all over the world already do so - add the recovered. At least here in Germany all recovered are treated same as fully vaccinated people.

If you add up the numbers and also add the small children and those who have real health issues against vaccination, then only a small fraction of unprotected is left over.
Even though the pandemic is not over. We are in the first full month to 6 weeks of Omicron and i have the impression that fatality of Omicron now is roughly 25 .. 40% of Delta 3 months ago, adjusted to active case count and higher protection ratio.

Found this ratio in Germany, UK and USA. It is a quick and dirty analytics of raw data, but results are not random.

Herd immunity with Omicron comes at a price. It is not just a cold. You can see it in the statistics.
