A quick grin for a rainy Saturday afternoon.

Maher starts with a quip tying the baby formula shortage to the pending SCOTUS decision.

    To paraphrase:

'You know what we're out of in this country, baby formula. Perfect, just when the Supreme court comes out with a formula for more babies. Oh yes, ladies in America, not only do we make you carry the baby to full-term, now we're going to make you breastfeed the little thing."

    Classic Maher, the Jab Master.

    Monologue: Formula None

      Funny --- I am speechless

You don't see the humor?  Caricatures are what they are for a reason. In this case, it was intended to be humor.

Yes, I saw that ---   it was funny. Hence my comment --- "Funny" ---   Therefore I did not deflect into the baby formula problem. "speechless".  I guess my context was not clear.

I spend more time explaining my comments here... I was being polite, not wanting to take your thread into the  Abyss.  Just indicating I found the quote funny, but perhaps more could be said on the subject but in this case (this thread) it would not be the place to add more on the subject.

Hopefully, this gives a bit more context to my comment.

At any rate, looks like I was one of the few that stepped away from deflecting from your "Caricatures".

Will you be scrolling all?  Your chip is showing.

I understand about having to spell out what you mean. That's the lot of text communications. Your dashes threw me off, I read your response as sarcasm. That's just more proof that I'm not good at it.

I am a bit lost about your "chip" and "oil and vinegar' thought. At least relative to Maher's joke.

I see the thread has gone off subject, off the deep end --- just when I was going to start a thread that was going to take a deep dive into the baby formula problem. Won't be doing that.

The oil and vinegar comment was to snarkily point out you pretty much pointed out my comment, and let the others slide. You have done this before.  Perhaps you can figure out the chip at this point.

My comment was meant to be so harmless. But al and all, I think I learned something, got the picture.

Now you're making me work. I can appreciate good snark when it's applicable, but if it's not then it's just snark, and 'just snark' isn't good.

I did my mea culpa after your first explanation—I misunderstood your response, but I don't think I am misunderstanding this one.

As to the "chip" point, you have a misperception. "Chip" is the right vehicle for the message of my exchanges with you, but it isn't the message.  You will have to figure that out for yourself, that is the only way any perception changes. Start from the true point that there is nothing negative about my responding to your comments. When you see that you will also see that the 'oil and vinegar' analogy doesn't work either.

So now, hoping that 'we're all good', you are right about the thread going off the deep end right after your "Funny ---- Speechless" comment. That's what I meant about making me work, I had to reread the thread and see the change from joke thread to topic thread.

You should start a serious thread if it interests you, this one was never intended to be serious.

Let's start over. Love Bill M.  Thanks for the laugh.   Speechless, I could say more but won't. I will keep my mouth shut and play nice.

That's it! That's something a simple man can understand. I didn't have to interpret anything.

[i]Hold on now, that wasn't sarcasm, was it? ;-)

Now we need to start working on rescinding Women's rights to vote and own property, preferably move them into protectorate status.
Women should not be allowed to marry, divorce, travel, get a job or have elective surgery without permission from their male guardians.
Saudi Arabia sets an excellent example for what we should strive to be like.

This may already be happening.  The news last night give me to understand that nursing women are beginning to pump extra breast milk to give to those that cannot find formula.

And, sold at $5 an ounce from my local news reports. Of course that covers the cost to pasteurize it and etc. Expensive!

The democrats have made it so the only way to get enough baby formula is to be an illegal immigrant.  Then you have no problems.

"Illegal migrants first to get ‘pallets’ of hard-to-find baby formula

The nationwide shortage of baby formula that has sent mothers desperately rushing from store to store has evaded one lucky group: illegal immigrants detained by Border Patrol.

According to videos posted by a Florida lawmaker, the Biden administration has been shipping “pallets” of baby formula to migrant holding facilities.

“They are sending pallets, pallets of baby formula to the border,” said Republican Rep. Kat Cammack in one of two online postings yesterday. “Meanwhile, in our own district at home, we cannot find baby formula,” she added, holding a photo of empty shelves where the formula would be.

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesperson said it is the agency's job to protect those in its custody: "CBP takes seriously its legal responsibility to ensure the safety and security of individuals in our custody. Ensuring migrants, including children and infants, in our custody have their basic needs met is in line with this administration’s commitment to ensuring safe, orderly, and humane processes at our border. CBP complies with all applicable regulations for the purchase of products used in CBP facilities."

CBP is correct; we are morally responsible for providing what those in our custody need.

The simple answer (really simple) isn't to take baby formula from Americans with hungry infants, it is to put those illegal aliens back where they came from.  Presto!  They are no longer in custody and American families can feed their babies.

Not only morally, but legally too.

I know the democrat party has an abnormal obsession with people who come into the United States illegally.

I am someone who believes that American citizens needs should be met before those who have entered the country illegally.  The children of American citizens should be fed first using American resources.

Of course.  But that does not preclude that most simple of solutions, at least in the matter of baby formula.

      Why is that news?
      There should be no surprise.
Compact on Migration explains all this.
As does some other international "agreements" put in place, I wrote a Hub about it years back.
Anyways, the short of it, immigrants have MORE rights to benefits and social welfare than citizens of the host nation.
People really should pay more attention to UN resolutions, International Agreements, WB, WTO, WHO policies... Those are what the country is run by these days.
The exception being a couple years when the nation was guided by a rogue like Trump who fought or opted out of those agreements... Until Biden restored them.
