New FBI whistleblower claims bureau leadership slow-walked Hunter Biden investigation

The FBI slow-walked its investigation into Hunter Biden’s laptop, including telling some bureau employees not to look at the hard drive belonging to President Joe Biden’s son, according to reported whistleblower disclosures made public by a top Senate Republican.

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) sent a letter to DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz on Tuesday about the new whistleblower claims, following disclosures made public last month about the bureau allegedly wrongly labeling Hunter Biden evidence as “disinformation” in 2020.

“Whistleblowers have recently contacted my office to share serious concerns about the FBI’s handling of Hunter Biden’s laptop,” Johnson told Horowitz, telling the watchdog that after the FBI obtained the laptop from a Delaware computer shop in late 2019, local FBI leadership told bureau employees that “you will not look at that Hunter Biden laptop” and that the FBI is “not going to change the outcome of the election again,” the whistleblowers said.

Johnson said the new whistleblower claims “allege that the FBI did not begin to examine the contents of Hunter Biden’s laptop until after the 2020 presidential election — potentially a year after the FBI obtained the laptop in Dec. 2019.”

Johnson said that the new whistleblower allegations should spur the DOJ inspector general to action.

“It is clear to me based on numerous credible whistleblower disclosures that the FBI cannot be trusted with the handling of Hunter Biden’s laptop,” Johnson told Horowitz this week. “I call on you to immediately investigate the FBI’s handling of Hunter Biden’s laptop and begin by obtaining the history of the investigative actions taken by the FBI on Hunter Biden’s laptop which should be available on the FBI’s case management system, Sentinel."

The latest whistleblower allegations come after more emerged in July that the FBI wrongly labeled verified evidence on Biden as “disinformation."

Agents investigating President Joe Biden's son "opened an assessment which was used by an FBI headquarters team to improperly discredit negative Hunter Biden information as disinformation and caused investigative activity to cease," according to Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA). Grassley revealed the claim after his office received "a significant number of protected communications from highly credible whistleblowers" about the investigation. The Republican claimed one of the communications shows "verified and verifiable derogatory information on Hunter Biden was falsely labeled as disinformation."

FBI Director Christopher Wray said he found the allegations "deeply troubling” when asked about them in early August.

So, what do you think of all of this?

Do you feel in this CASE the FBI was weaponized for political purposes?

    What's New With Hunter?

Federal investigators believe they have compiled enough evidence to charge President Biden’s son Hunter Biden with tax crimes and on allegations related to falsifying paperwork having to do with a gun purchase in 2018, according to a report by The Washington Post on Thursday that cited people familiar with the case.

Hunter Biden has reportedly been under federal investigation by prosecutors seeking more information about his business dealings abroad, particularly income he received from a Ukrainian natural gas company as well as his business dealings in China and Kazakhstan. The investigation became central to former President Trump’s 2020 campaign.

The Post reported the next step in the process is whether the U.S. attorney in Delaware will decide to bring forth charges. That office is led by David Weiss, who was appointed by Trump in 2018, the same year the investigation into Hunter Biden began.

A spokesperson for the U.S. attorney in Delaware declined to comment to The Hill on the Post’s report.

Attorney General Merrick Garland, who was appointed by President Biden, has made clear Weiss was in charge of overseeing the case, according to the Post.

The Department of Justice did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Chris Clark, an attorney for Hunter Biden, suggested in a statement to The Hill that if a federal agent leaked information about the investigation, they had committed a federal felony.

Pentagon chief gives go ahead to change military bases named after Confederate generals
OPEC+ cuts expected to inflict more pain at the US pump, spelling trouble for Democrats
Clark noted that he has had no contact “whatsoever with any federal investigative agent.”

“Therefore, a rendition of the case from such an ‘agent’ is inherently biased, one-sided, and inaccurate. It is regrettable that law enforcement agents appear to be violating the law to prejudice a case against a person who is a target simply because of his family name,” Clark said.

With all of the recent calls by the GOP to defund the FBI along with allegations of gross mishandling of the Trump mar-a-lago/documents operation, can we have faith in the findings of their investigation of Hunter Biden?

        None.

They worked with the media to bury this story because it would hurt biden's presidential run. It is a government organization that has inserted itself into politics.

So it looks like the FBI has provided  more than ample evidence to charge Hunter Biden. With the current scrutiny on the FBI's methods and calls to dismantle the agency, how am I to trust them in this matter if the GOP is telling me not to trust them in Mr Trump's matter?  Why the sudden faith in the FBI?

"GOP lawmakers are preparing a buffet of investigations aimed at touching every aspect of the agency’s decision-making, even floating a select committee to probe how the bureau handled the recovery of classified documents kept at Donald Trump’s Florida estate."

How am I to trust them in any investigation?? I mean, Republican lawmakers are telling me the FBI is flawed at its most basic level.

I think they will do the right thing. There has been so much finger-pointing at the current FBI, and the DOJ --- and they might be considering that it is possible the House will soon be a majority of Republicans and they will be progressing into many investigations into Biden's.

so much of the FBI's evidence regarding Hunter has been leaked from FBI agents. I think he will be indicted, with more to come if the Republicans take the House. Hopefully, these FBI whistle-blowers will help Congress clean house on those that showed a political bias.

You don't trust them.  They now work for the democrat party and not the American people.

“Several recent actions by the department reinforce the conclusion that the Justice Department is using its federal law-enforcement authority as a weapon against the administration’s political opponents,” the Republicans wrote in the letter to Mr. Garland and Jacqueline C. Romero, U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

The arrest came after Mr. Houck was indicted for pushing a volunteer abortion escort outside a Planned Parenthood in Philadelphia in October 2021, even though local authorities declined to prosecute the case and a judge threw out a civil lawsuit."

Sharlee and Mike, I believe that the FBI has suffered credibility issues for quite some time.
I can agree that the agency has become politicized to some degree. I don't believe that it runs only in Democrats direction though.  It's been weaponized by each party through time. The FBI basically streamlined (ignored) the sexual misconduct accusations by many, many women of Brett Kavanaugh when he was nominated for the Supreme Court. Instead they chose for an extremely narrow investigation.  Similarly, many Hillary Clinton supporters and others thought the investigation into her e-mails was a witch hunt.
I believe we have partisan factions in the FBI.
There is no doubt that at times, the FBI  has served as a political tool of various presidents of both parties.   We've come a long way from the days of J. Edgar Hoover but we obviously still have some issues. Most our professionals can keep politics out of their investigation but what do we do with the ones who can't?

"Sharlee and Mike, I believe that the FBI has suffered credibility issues for quite some time."

Oh really --- Yes for some time, ever here of Russiagate.

Ignore the Brett Kavanaugh -- ever hear of the hearings where "Ford" was left to smear this man with no proof. No one could come close to confirming her allegations.

Ya know Faye, I have been polite, but I don't intend to respond to your comments any longer. Your comments in my view are so biased. We have zero in common when it comes to ideologies or the way we look at issues.

That certainly is your prerogative but I don't see anything biased in my statement. I plainly said the FBI has clearly, over time then used as a political tool of both parties.
Maybe if more people in this country who have differing views actually talked to people, actually listened and considered other views we wouldn't be in the place we are in today. The politicians realize that and easily manipulate people into believing there's no common ground.  Divide up, stay in your tribe and keep your blinders on that's all they want.
I don't understand the hostility that some members here have for those who aren't in their tribe.
What's the point of even being part of a forum conversation?

Well, let's see. Did Biden's son collude with our enemies to change the outcome of an election? Did he call a state's secretary of state to change the outcome of an election? Did he incite an assault on our Capitol to change the outcome of an election? Did he remove top secret documents and hide them in his beach house? Did he try to blackmail one of our allies for dirt on a political opponent? Did he refuse to attend the inauguration of his successor?

Actually, this conversation is about Hunter Biden, how the FBI before the 2020 election buried information on what was being discovered about Hunter's foreign business dealings, and much more.  This is just not about Trump.

So back to the subject ----

No Hunter has many issues that are hanging over this head, and many are from flagged bank transactions from other counties that the IRS has reported, and are being looked at

" WASHINGTON—House Committee on Oversight and Reform Ranking Member James Comer (R-Ky.) today wrote the Biden Administration and several banks and financial institutions about Hunter Biden and Biden family and associates’ suspicious foreign business transactions flagged by U.S. banks. According to recent media reports, more than 150 of Hunter Biden and the Biden network’s international business transactions have generated suspicious activity reports by U.S. banks for further review by the Treasury Department to determine if there is illegal activity or a threat to national security. The Treasury Department used to provide these reports to Congress, but the Biden Administration has restricted access to them, raising questions about a possible effort to hide the Biden network’s suspicious business dealings."
In a letter to Department of the Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, Ranking Member Comer requests all suspicious activity reports generated in connection with Hunter and James Biden, their associates, and their businesses and requests all documents and communications related to the Biden Administration’s decision to restrict Congress’ access to suspicious activity reports.

“Troubling reports have recently surfaced that numerous international business transactions tied to Hunter and James Biden, the President’s brother, were flagged to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) through Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs). At the same time, the Biden Administration is restricting Congress’ access to SARs. This reversal of longstanding policy raises serious questions about the motives behind the change, including whether it is intended to protect Hunter Biden,” wrote Ranking Member Comer to Secretary Yellen. “More than 150 international business transactions tied to Hunter or James Biden were flagged by U.S. banks in SARs filed with the U.S. Department of the Treasury. The sheer number of flagged transactions, in this case, is highly unusual and may be indicative of serious criminal activity or a national security threat. We are particularly concerned where those transactions may involve business with firms or entities, including those with direct ties to foreign governments, hostile to the United States’ interests.”

Sorry. I see. Whataboutism only goes one way. My point is, when you ignore so much about a president, it's hard to get too worked up about a president's son.

It is my hope that we will have a new Republican majority soon, and the Biden that is Hunter, Joe, and Jim will be well investigated for what very much looks like a crime family.

One can hope... I feel they have tons of hard physical evidence on Hunter, and he is such a weak-minded flawed human being he most likely will give them all up for a lesser punishment.

It is highly unlikely that either party will have the  60 votes needed in the Senate to do anything of importance. But those are the consequences and that's what people get when they want to remain locked up in their tribal camps.  Nothing is accomplished.. for anyone

Fox seems to be the only network covering this information.

November can't come fast enough... The Biden's need to be investigated.

House Oversight ranking member 'confident' the Biden family 'committed a crime: 'This is very serious'   Hunter and Jim Biden were 'influence peddling' with countries America sanctioned, Rep. James Comer says

Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., argued Monday that the president's brother, James Biden, and son Hunter, were involved in criminal activity while he was vice president. Comer told, "Mornings with Maria" Monday that Biden family members were likely "influence peddling" to help Chinese and Ukraine energy companies get a "foothold" on American energy.

REP. JAMES COMER: We do know that prior to Joe Biden becoming president any member of Congress had access to suspicious activity reports. One first rule change Joe Biden made when the president was changed to that rule, so Republicans have been blocked from getting the answers as to what triggered those 150 suspicious activity reports. Remember that's the banks, and there was more than one bank, that notified the federal government that we believe our client has committed a crime. Now Hunter Biden had 150 of these from at least four different banks, and yet we haven’t seen been able to determine the extent of what exactly triggered suspicious activity reports. We’re going to request these again from the treasury after the November elections. We are going to expect to have these on day one in January.

If we don’t get them we will use subpoena power to get them. We will also invite the bank CEOs to come in, and hopefully won’t have to subpoena them for that but going to get those suspicious activity reports, and we will be able to answer those questions as to Hunter Biden and Jim Biden's personal banks notified federal government that their clients, who they knew at the time were the son and brother of the sitting vice president of the United States. We are confident they committed a crime, so this is very serious. I am very disappointed that mainstream media hasn’t picked up on this because this is a pretty sure indication that there was criminal activity. That means that they were probably doing business with people who had sanctions or countries who America had sanctions against. The average American couldn't do business with them, but the Biden family could do business with them, and the business they were doing was influence peddling. They were helping these people navigate bureaucracy, trying to get Chinese energy companies, and Ukrainian energy companies through the backdoor, so they could start getting a foothold on American energy. That is counter to everything every American citizen should want especially now with record-high energy prices.
