There are a few who realize that life is a game in which the most savvy &/or cunning thrive, not merely survive.   Oftentimes, it isn't necessarily the smartest or the most industrious who thrive but those who know how to play the game whether it is corporate or political.  Yes, everything is politics in one way or another.   One has to be quite adept at whatever culture they are in to thrive at the highest level.  Life is merely gameplay.  Your thoughts?

You think being on the edge of death is gameplay?
You think studying in school for good grades and accolades is gameplay?
You think getting up every day and fighting traffic and dealing with co- workers and bosses is gameplay?
You think monitoring, buying, selling and trading stocks / bonds and following the marketing trends on wall street is gameplay?

If this life is gameplay what is Checkers? What is Chess? What is Shoots and Ladders or Monopoly?
What is Foursquare, Volley Ball, Baseball and Football, etc?

What is throwing a frisbee against the wind for a friend to catch and failing to get it two feet in front of you? A game? A fun game?

      A difficult game?

A challenging game in which winning is the goal, but how you play the game is the important thing?

Maybe the word "game" is getting stuck in my mind on this one, GM Williams.

Maybe I am angry that to me, games should be fun.
Games are something one plays because one is fascinated with finding ways to win.
But your description of the game of life as you put it does not sound fun.

What is the Motivation Factor in playing such a game?

If its to become powerfully successful, not many have such a dream, goal or ambition within them.
Everyone's source of joy of life is different.
Everyones, direction for why they came to earth is different.
Everyone's upbringing is different and the ways they guide their wills are different.

It gets down to finding a way to survive according to one's own motivation factor which comes from within them.

I strongly agree with the first sentence of Kathryn’s response. Though your statement applies to some people, it’s important to think about the exceptions. Your idea doesn’t apply to people with a painful, debilitating, and/or incurable and nearly always fatal illness, especially if this illness had a genetic cause or another cause that wasn’t the person’s fault. It also doesn’t apply to people being tortured or with some other very serious life problem that they can’t control. I don’t consider trying to escape from these problems (which may not be solvable) a game.

I disagree; I see life as a gift; a gift that we can either embrace and live it to its fullest or a gift that we can put away on a shelf, never to consider again. Other than to whine, make excuses, compare it to other's gifts, as to all the reasons why we got shorted!
There's also the option of abusing it or destroying it altogether and some even feel as if they have the power to take another individual's gift away from them, if they so choose.

        Yes, life is a gift.
        I agree.

It comes with challenges, thats for sure.
And not meeting the challenges results in great tragedy:
        Wasting the gift.

Furthermore: The end-goal of some sort of success is not the important thing.
    What is?
    The actual  p r o c e s s  of meeting challenges on one's road toward success.
The best way is to incorporate love, service, gratitude, etc.
In short, meeting the challenges of life and survival with a positive attitude ... which is entirely up to each individual.
