2023 has been a contentious year for all of us from both sides. It has definitely been rough and tumble. Let's indulge in the old tradition started during WWI, when opposing sides in the depths of trench warfare on Christmas Day laid down their arms and went to the opposing trench installations to celebrate together with shared cigarettes, rations, etc.

Our situation of course is not as stark of course, or is it? Regardless, I lift a virtual glass of champagne to you all in a holiday truce.

A prosperous 2024 to you all...

I has an issue or two with Amazon last week, generally, I have been most pleased with their service.

They put me on hold, but instead of the usual "musak", I heard just a snippet of something with an enchanting melody and I wanted more....

It was lovely and I call it my "lefty's lullaby.

I don't get to use what little I know of the Swedish language except Christmas time on Facebook. So . . .

      God Julafton!!

      That means Merry Christmas Eve!

      And, for Christmas Day comes,

      God Jul or Merry Christmas

Finally, Gott Nytt År or Happy New Year

        "Mele Kalikimaka"

Is the greeting in Hawaiian, one which my spouse is most familiar. I always had a hard time pronouncing it.

And to you as well, and to all.

I hope you remain an active participant in the forums for as long as they remain here.  Most certainly in the year to come... 2024 has the potential to be a very trying, very chaotic year.

This might very well become a place where we are far less argumentative, and far more supportive of one another as we try and navigate it.

May you and yours be well this eve.

Ken, I would be bored to death without the forums. I, too, envision 2024 as a difficult year. Hopefully, it can all get sorted out, it always has been.

We don't argue, we debate, there is no malice associated with our correspondence, which is the foundation of an "argument".

It is just the reality that I cannot see infrared light no more than you can see the ultra-violet.

My best to you and the family, regardless.

It has been a long time since I've bèen here but you are a name I recognize right away. Are you still raising quail? Whatever has made 2023 rough for you.may it fal away in the new year.  Best wishes my poetic friend.

Brenda, it has been ages. Nice to see you.

Well, I never have raised quail, but living in Hawaii we were raising chickens for a time. The missus was a certified breeder of golden retriever puppies. Over time, We have both gotten rather fragile and frail and can't keep up with them as we once did.

Rough in terms of politics between opposing sides. In that sense it has been a contentious year, and in that vein 2024 does not give me much comfort.

Don't be a stranger, pop in now and then and say hello....

All the best for the coming year..

    As they say in Ukraine

З Різдвом Христовим та новим роком

    (Z Riz-da-vom Chris-To-vam Ta Nov-im Rok-im)

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

This year is the first time Ukraine has celebrated Christmas on the 25th of December.  They have done this to further distance themselves from the dictates of the russian Orthodox Church.

    Слава Україні
    (Slava Uh-kri-yenie)

    Glory to Ukraine

I hope everyone had a good Christmas and has a very good new year.

I am hoping that the conflict in this area can be resolved favorably for both parties next year.

Best wishes to you, and anticipate the challenges in our debates for the next year.
