For the new ones that have not heard this reference before, I remind myself of a splendid custom that took place between opposing armies during some of the most savage trench warfare of World War I. At Christmas time both trenches became open houses, opposing soldiers shared provisions with each other, so a vestige of humanity remained where otherwise it was impossible to find.

There is more to the story of the WWI soldiers if interested click below.

I agree to keep my quill in its sheath if my adversaries would, so let us eat, drink and be merry in a virtual fashion, of course.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

To my friends from Mexico & Central America & Puerto Rico here at HP - Feliz Navidad

To my many friends in Sweden - God Jul
Note: A tradition in Sweden is to watch the 1958 Movie, "Donald Duck and his friends wish you a Merry Christmas", in the afternoon at 3 pm on Christmas Eve. The tradition began in 1959.

To all my HP friends and here in this Forum - Merry Christmas and/or Happy Holidays

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from all four corners of the UK:

In Scottish:  Nollaig Chridheil agus Bliadhna Mhath Ùr

In Irish:  Nollaig Shona agus Athbhliain faoi Mhaise Duit

In Welsh:  Nadolig Llawen a Blwyddyn Newydd Dda

In Cornish:  Nadelik Lowen Ha Bledhen Nowydh Da

This caught my eye – spotted it by chance, as I was checking on the spelling of the above greetings:  The popular version of the famous Christmas Carol “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” comes from Bristol (where I live). So "We Wish You a Merry Christmas", also from Bristol to you all. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/We_Wish_Y … _Christmas

Feliz Natal to you and your family. Nice to stay away from politics for at least a day!

Absolutely agree!  As preparations and cooking begin this Christmas Eve for Christmas day, the politics of the world can take a back seat.  Clear in the back!

A giant Merry Christmas to all!

Hi I hope you have a nice day up your way. My granddaughter keeps telling me she wants to get up there to see the snow! Is Idaho cold enough this time of year?

LOL  It was 50 degrees F today!  But it will soon be cold enough to snow, and the mountains at the edge of town have been covered for some time.  Snow skiing is in full force there.

50 would be a welcome relief. I am building some cabinets and had to stop and work in the middle of the night because it is so hot.

Nice to know. It happens in every warfare. During Christmas, Ramadan, Holi, and Deepavali festivals, a one-day truce in which sweets/gifts are exchanged takes place.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, Dear Friends.

Tim, how did you incorporate the image in a reply?

Happy Holiday season, Venkat.

First, you have to have a URL address for the image. A lot of the time I upload an image into my file here at HP found at your 'My Account'. You will see a header name 'Photos'. Click it and follow the step-by-step queues for uploading an image.

Next, right click the image and a popup appears, Now, select 'open link in new tab'. Note: I use the Firefox browser and that is their procedure. I presume it is something similar with other browsers.

The image will be online now. In the URL address window will be the image address. Copy it. It should be similar to the Example next between brackets.

In the editing box for a reply or creating an OP put the address between . . .

after the address.

You can see the example in the 'formatting' link in red at the lower right of a reply and the editing window to begin a forum OP - New discussion.

Also, you don't have to upload it to your Photo file here at HP. Sometimes you can get a jpg or png image address easily while on the web.

Give it go . . .

З Різдвом Христовим!

Pronounced in English "Z Riz-do-vom  Chris-To-vem"

Merry Christmas in Ukrainian.

Also I must say.

Слава Україні

Pronounced in English "Slava- Uh-Kri-yene"

Glory to Ukraine.

And the response to this is always

Слава єретикам

Pronounced in English "Slava-E-Rohem"

Glory to the heroes.

Sorry, Tim. You provided a lengthy How-To for my query. It may not solve my problem. I couldn't insert an image in this box following that.
