First cabinet pic with 14 more to go.

Trump chooses Rep. Elise Stefanik to serve as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations by NBC News (Oct 11, 2024)
Stefanik, a staunch defender of Israel, is the president-elect's first Cabinet pick for his second term.

A good choice or perhaps excellent?

    Thoughts, criticisms, accolades, and/or commentary?

This one is too ripe to pass up. Gimme a break tsmog, what's coming is typical partisan sarcasm that the Democrat surrogates (Mark Cuban?) brought on themselves.

You might call it 'an open door'. LOL

Here goes:"What!!! Trump picks another strong independent woman for his team? You mean there was more than one!!!"

Sorry for the silly distraction, but somebody had to do it.

Whoosh!! Right over the head . . . Or, was that humor? I didn't see the typical smiley face with your jests, so no hint. Some say I am dense and at times I agree ha-ha wink

Seems your more worried about the article than the announcement. Do I have that wrong? I am just trying to mark the points along the line whose inception began at the 'Zero Point'. I am not picky whose article I see first in my email box. That is evident with the announcement of the EPA Administrator that followed this one from a different source that I posted. Trump isn't wasting his time, so why should I? Got to keep up with current events, right?

Harvard grad... that is as "liberal" or "left" a background as you can get.

Really... Trump a former Dem, Gabbard a former Dem, Kennedy a former Dem, Musk a former Dem and former hero of the Left...

Some people really should take the time to think about why are all these former Libs and Dems working for Trump...

Maybe all that threat to Democracy stuff was BS?

Maybe the real threat to Democracy, as all us old Flag waiving patriots and Liberal minded individuals used to think of it, comes from those who have been crying wolf all these years...

Whoa. whoa, stop. You're lost. Damn, is my 'humor' really that bad?

Good-naturedly, and with the most innocent intentions, here's the deal. It was a dumb joke that had no more significance than being so ironic that it had to be said.

But, even in its insignificance, Pres. Trump's picks make it a legitimate jab-in-the-ribs to the Democrat villainizers.

To that point, I didn't add the smiley because I thought the 'pre-statement' made it clear; "Gimme a break tsmog, what's coming is typical partisan sarcasm . . ." and "Sorry for the silly distraction . . ."

The story: In a campaign appearance supporting Harris, Mark Cuban said Pres. Trump was intimidated by strong intelligent women (I messed up with "independent," I was going from memory).  ;-)

          Fortune headline:
"Billionaire Mark Cuban says strong, intelligent women intimidate Donald Trump and he doesn’t like to be challenged by them"
          https://hubstatic.com/17257721.jpg

How right was Harris's surrogate Cuban? Pres. Trump first appointment is a strong, intelligent woman to the second-most important job in the White House.

And now, he picks a strong intelligent woman to be our nation's representative to the world.

Oh lordy, lordy. The irony. Am I the only one who sees irony so juicy and tempting that Eve would have chosen it over the Apple.

Still, these explanations are fun, as long as they work. Did it?

Thanks for the salute. The Navy gave me a lot more than I gave it. I'm grateful they let me in. ;-)

I might have been near your neck of the woods, I did basic training in San Diago.

Interesting! What year? The Navy training center is long gone now. Did you get to celebrate graduation in town? San Diego city has some of the best strip clubs ha-ha Of course, located not far from the base. For some a 'right of passage'.

I think the City of San Diego has it now. Kind of in my neck of the woods, yet driving the interstate and then navigating the city streets it would be from 40 minutes to a good hour away. The closest I came to it is going to the international airport.

Veterans Day is the last day of Fleet Week here. A lot of hoopla and celebrations tapping into the tradition and history. A lot for people to see and tours too. The Midway aircraft carrier is always open to the public, yet I think yesterday the Nimitz was too. Or, the Roosevelt.

I was there in 1970. We were the first class with electricity. (a joke, but it was over 50 years ago).

No weekend passes for me. I wasn't a troublemaker, but I wasn't real serious about it and they didn't understand my sense of humor either. There was one chance for a weekend pass at the 6-week transition from Basic to skills-level, but I had earned a weekend date with 16-count Manuals* and 'rifle-high' Jumping Jacks instead of San Diago.
*You'll have to Google them to get the joke.

      Another woman!   What The Hell

Rep. Elise Stefanik would make a great U.N. representative because of her strong leadership skills, quick intelligence, and ability to navigate complex political issues. Her experience in Congress has shown she can tackle both domestic and international matters while staying true to her America First ideals. She’s a clear communicator who can speak effectively on the global stage, always advocating for U.S. interests first. Elise has consistently supported policies that prioritize the safety, security, and prosperity of America, making her an ideal representative to push for national sovereignty and global respect for American values. With her background in policy and her passionate, determined approach to leadership, she would represent the U.S. with strength, clarity, and unwavering commitment to America’s best interests.

She’s a big supporter of Trump and works hard to push conservative policies. Elise comes from a hardworking family in upstate New York, which definitely shapes her commitment to her community. She’s married to Matthew Manda, a communications guy, and they have one child together. I’ve watched her tons on C-SPAN programming, and I’m always impressed by how she speaks, tackles tough issues, and shows quick intelligence. She’s definitely a fighter—standing strong for what she believes in and representing her people with a lot of passion.

I have some concerns about Trump choosing Elise Stefanik for a different role because we really need to maintain a strong majority in the House. I feel it would be more beneficial to keep our numbers strong in Congress, especially when we have so many important issues to address and defend our positions. Keeping a solid majority seems like it would be the smarter move to ensure continued progress and influence in Washington.

Thanks, AB. My knowledge of current politicians and stuff is lacking, as most know? But, this round compared to 2020 I have a greater interest in who being picked for what and how the government is being formed. It is a learning experience for me.
