Why do certain people want the government to be their parents & provide for them?  What happens to being responsible & accountable for one's choices?   Has the Democratic Party in America created a culture of infantile dependency, especially in the lower classes who believe that others should provide them with a comfortable, middle class life? I believe that if people want a better life, they should strategize & plan to have a better life through education & work.  Also practice delayed gratification instead of instant gratification.  Yes, the poor in America have become entitled for the last sixty years.  It is time that such entitlement be stopped & Trump is in the process of stopping such entitlements.

Good for Trump!  When half our nation is deemed unfit and unable to support themselves it is apparent that our version of the welfare state isn't about helping people that need it, it is about supporting those that don't want to do it themselves.

Just think of it; as you walk down the street every other person you meet is considered disabled, physically or mentally, to the point they cannot support themselves.  The typical liberal may swallow that nonsense but I don't and neither should anyone with two working brain cells.

Why should I have to sacrifice to give the wealthiest in the country even more? A larger tax break? More benefits? Why is it austerity for me but not for thee?

Trump's grotesque bill disadvantages those at the lowest income levels the most... That's not okay.

The wealthy aren't the problem at all.  It is THE POOR who are the problem.  It is THE POOR who is draining society through welfare & related programs.  It is THE POOR who are soaking the middle class through taxes to pay for people who REFUSE TO HELP themselves.  Please WAKE UP.

The question that has been sidestepped, why should tax breaks that further disadvantage the poor go to the wealthy ?

I completely agree with you. It’s frustrating to watch how dependency has been encouraged and normalized, especially by the Democratic Party, which seems to have built an entire political strategy around keeping people reliant on the government. What’s even more disturbing is how it feels orchestrated, almost like people are handed a script with pre-approved words and phrases to push on social media. They repeat terms like "equity," "justice," or "basic human right" without really thinking through what they mean or how they’re being manipulated. It’s robotic, like the goal is to emotionally charge the conversation, not to encourage real solutions or personal responsibility. What happened to working hard, making sacrifices, and building a better life through perseverance? That message has been drowned out by promises of handouts and excuses. Trump seems to be the only major political figure actively pushing back against this entitlement mindset and calling for a return to accountability and self-reliance.

Hard work or rather work in general has become a 4-letter word.  There is such a class envy of the poor regarding more affluent people who worked hard & sacrificed to attain their goals.   For example, my EXTENDED maternal family-out of 10 children, only 3 attained solidly middle class status, the rest chose to be impoverished.   While the 3 siblings sacrified & became educated, the rest remained in their impoverished lifestyle, not wishing to improve themselves.   My maternal grandaunt supported the family then my mother paid for the family property.  However, they were unappreciative, still expecting more.   I have cut them off, telling them what parasites they were.   Now my cousin is supporting them.  I will not support able-bodied adults who made stupid choices.

Well, I have digressed somewhat.   I believe in TOUGH love i.e. pulling oneself by one's bootstrap as my extended paternal family did.  They were more impoverished than my mother's family was yet all of the siblings became middle class through civil service jobs within one generation & in the next generation, all of the children became wealthy businesspeople, doctors, lawyers, & specialized professionals while my mother's family in the succeeding generations became worse.  My father's family pulled themselves up by their bootstraps while my mother's family expected others to carry them which continues to this day as my cousin is supporting them.

When you give able-bodied people, dependency is encouraged, not to mention entitlement.  Remember when immigrants & poor people had to help themselves, they learned that poverty wasn't a joke & worked to better themselves.  They didn't whine nor expected others to carry them like the recent poor has done.   Trump is right in cutting waste in the programs.  Poor people have to learn to carry their weight & earn their way into the middle class.  They have to learn to make more intelligent/mature choices & not succumb to the victim mentality.

    Gimme...Gimme...Gimme...

The Republican plan is to use all the money they save from cutting our healthcare under the ACA and Medicaid expansion to pay instead to extend tax breaks for the wealthy and corporations under the Trump tax law, which also expire this year. In this House budget, tax breaks for the top 1% richest households would cost just over one trillion dollars for the first ten years. That’s about the same amount as House Republicans are proposing to cut from Medicaid and from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, which supports many of the same people....

Since Maga seems to like the idea of the government having its hand in just about everything, and strong arming institutions... Should the government require all businesses to provide health insurance to their employees?  Or at least a substantial contribution toward it?

Can anyone address the very real ripple effects through our economy that will happen as a result of 10 million people suddenly having no health coverage?

That is a good question and how exactly on a micro-economics level I wouldn't fathom a guess. On a macro-economics level where I reside I will share what I have learned in regard to University of California San Diego (UCSD). I focused on that as it UCSD Health is my medical group and I am interested how it may affect me.

      Google generative AI says . . .

Medicaid cuts would significantly impact UCSD, leading to potential budget shortfalls, hiring pauses, and delays in construction projects. The cuts could also affect research grants and funding, with potential disruption of ongoing research projects. Furthermore, the financial strain could impact services provided by UCSD Health, potentially jeopardizing behavioral health, skilled nursing, and other programs.

      Here's a more detailed breakdown:

      1. Financial Impact:

      Budget Shortfalls:
** UCSD anticipates potential budget reductions ranging from $75 million to over $500 million annually.

      Hiring Pauses:
** UCSD has implemented a hiring pause for both UCSD and UCSD Health, with limited exceptions.

      Project Delays:
** Construction projects, including the Multidisciplinary Life Sciences Building and the Hillcrest Multipurpose Clinical Research Building, are indefinitely delayed.

      Research Grant Disruption:
** UCSD Principal Investigators have received notices of award disruption, with increased payment delays for expected grant monies.

      Loss of Research Funding:
Reduced federal funding for Medicaid could lead to a decline in research grants and funding.

      2. Impact on UCSD Health:

      Program Cuts:
** Medicaid cuts could put programs like behavioral health, skilled nursing, and some women's services in danger.

      Subsidy Burden:
** If UCSD Health is required to subsidize these programs even more heavily due to Medicaid cuts, they may have to consider whether they can continue providing them.

      3. Broader Community Impact:

      Loss of Coverage:

** Reduced federal funding could lead to a significant loss of health insurance coverage for low-income individuals and families.

      Increased Uncompensated Care:

** Hospitals may see an increase in uncompensated care as Medicaid funding is reduced.

      Ripple Effect:

The financial impact of Medicaid cuts would not only affect hospitals and Medicaid patients but also their surrounding communities, potentially leading to closures of hospitals in underserved areas

Note there are 179 medical groups in San Diego County while there are four major groups such as UCSD Health.

To get a good idea of Medicaid in your state go to the link next. It may surprise you. Let one's imagination run a little bit to understand how it will affect the macro-economic levels
