Did Obama lie about conversation with Blago?

There was some controversy during the presidential transition over just how much Obama knew. After Blagojevich’s arrest, several commentators noted that on Nov. 23, 2008 Obama senior advisor David Axelrod had appeared on Fox News and said of the president-elect: “I know he’s talked to the governor and there are a whole range of names, many of which have surfaced, and I think he has a fondness for a lot of them.”

Axelrod later retracted: “I was mistaken when I told an interviewer last month that the President-elect has spoken directly to Governor Blagojevich about the Senate vacancy. They did not then or at any time discuss the subject.”

Yet the court documents now claim that Obama did in fact speak to Blago about the Senate seat. The alleged conversation happened on Dec. 1 — a week after Axelrod’s statement, and a week before Obama would deny having spoken to Blagojevich, telling reporters in Chicago, “I had no contact with the governor or his office and so I was not aware of what was happening.”

The court documents state that Blagojevich and Obama discussed the Senate seat issue on Dec. 1, 2008 in Philadelphia – presumably while they were both in that city attending a National Governors Association meeting.

I'd say Obama's record on lying is well documented.

I think they have found a way to tell when he is lying through body language.

They use facial gestures and I guess right before he starts lying his lips move.

Just use the Bush defense...I got bad information. Or agree to testify, but not under oath...as Bush did. And make sure Biden is there to hold your hand, like Cheney was for Bush.
And then when people are still not satisfied with your answers or your reasons or your excuses...
    Tell them...I'm the Decider!

SORRY...for being sick of lying low-down leaders...............we have you beat by miles. and miles. and miles.
And still no resolution to our questions.
    Still no truth.
    Still no recompense.

    And still no justice.
You had better get in line.

    Funny,

The "court documents" are Blago's statements saying he spoke to Obama.

Funny, how you guys will believe anyone who says anything bad about the President.

Funny, how Blago, who has been proven to be a liar on tape, now comes up with a conversation that he gives no background about and you all lead to this conclusion.

Who is jumping to conclusions, the title of this thread is Did Obama lie about conversation with Blago?

Everything else in the thread appears to have been said in a humorous fashion.

Well except for the Bush Basher.  Could someone let her know that W.is no longer the president.

The relationship between Obama and Blago is pretty well summed up in the FBI phone tap where Blago calls Obama a "mother fu&*er" becase he wouldn't make a deal over the open Senate seat... The rest of this sad - trading in crap and inuendo with no facts.

        From the Chicogo Sun-Times December 9, 2008

"Rod Blagojevich said that the consultants (Advisor B and another consultant are believed to be on the call at that time) are telling him that he has to "suck it up" for two years and do nothing and give this "motherf***er [the President-elect] his senator. F*** him. For nothing? F*** him."

You are free to speculate as you wish - but the tapes made by the FBI show a lot of hostillity from Blago twoard Obama. Chums they were not.

Perhaps you did not see Orin Hatch or John McCain at Ted Kennedy's memorial. . There is a deliberate attempt to suggest that Rod Blagojevich and  President Obama are friends or there was a political deal in the works for the Senate seat Obama vacated. The facts say otherwise.

???  You actually 'believe' that Obama and Blago did not have a working political relationship?  Astounding. It must have all been Rahm?  Could be.  I actually don't want to 'believe' that Obama was involved in the Blago saga, you don't help matters by this kind of rebuttal argument, so let your handlers know it's not working.

As for trying to sidestep the question with inference to McCain and anyone........let's see some research on media shots of Obama and see if he attended a funeral or other event in a smiling shot with Blago......darn, that's too much effort.

That will all come out in the trial.  I do not believe the complete truth of the matter has risen to the surface.

I am not implying any wrongdoing in the administration but it would be naive to believe that it is not possible?

I hope justice is served and not just another case of "just us" with a huge debacle of a show for the public viewing without any real justice being done.

Watergate a couple of people went to jail for a few years and now are huge media personalities.

People are entitled to speculate - free speech. If the Washington Examiner, which is a free paper owwned by a conservative Denver businessman wants to  engage in a one-sided hatchet job on Obama, that's fair. But if you post it on a public forum, some of us will fact-check, something the owner of the Examiner doesn't require.

I'm not picking opn Arthur alone. Last week someone linked to a Lou Dobbs rant on immigration. The problem is the telecast was from 2007 re a bill supported by Bush and  McCain. The person who posted the link was suckered by her source, thinking it was current events.

Critical thinking makes me doubt everything I read until I check it out as independently as I can.  Some of you will believe ANYTHING that casts Obama in a bad light - and that bias leave you open to manipulation.

It would be extremely unusual for a sitting president to testify at a corruption trial.

Thomas Jefferson was the first president to face this problem, and he insisted that the president could not be independent of the judiciary if "he were subject to the commands of the latter" and "if the several courts could bandy him from pillar to post." Similarly, in his Commentaries on the Constitution (1833), Justice Joseph Story concluded that the president must be allowed to perform his duties "without obstruction...accountable only to his country, and to his own conscience."

As the days go by, there seems to be more evidence that Obama has been very dishonest with us.  Many who voted for John McCain did not trust Obama, including myself.  I have considered Obama to be another Jimmy Carter, and everything I see going on verifies my original thoughts about Obama.  It seems every time I watch Fox News Sunday, when a liberal Obama administration guest comes on the show, they want to brush off all negative remarks against Barry Obama, even when evidence points out that what is being said is true.  Whenever Chris Wallace has the occasion to ask about Barry Obama's ties to Rodney Blagojevich, just about every left wing extremist cabinet member tries to dodge the question by attacking conservatives.  It appears that Obama has dipped his hands into "blood money" if you know what I mean.

Do you think it would be unbelievable that anyone in the administration had any input into who would be placed in the senate seat?

Not criminal deals but possible suggestions to the governor?

You know the "wink wink" you scratch our back and we will scratch yours kind of input?

No, the whole Blago thing defies belief. Blago is an idiot not capable of being a dog catcher. Maybe it's just gangster politics at work or a bunch of croonnism. It'll all come out sooner or later.

That is true and it is possible that other players may have to go down with the ship.  Blago seems to be ready to take anyone he can down with him OR there will be a plea bargain and everyone will walk away whistling "The Night Chicago Died"

What is interesting is Patti Blagovich appeared on a reality show where she was put in the jungle.

Rod Blago was just fired from the Donald Trump celebrity apprentice.

This guy is facing serious charges and he is appearing on a reality show?

Did anyone see him on the show?  The guy didn't seem qualified to run a 7/11 convenience store never mind a State.

How did he even get elected in the first place?

I don't trust the Tiny Dancer Emanuel at all.
