An expert at misdirection his appearance of flexability on health care is a ruse to establish the single payer system he wanted all along... so while we aren't looking he moves us closer to the socialist system he promised to transform us into.

Bush left Obama with a huge mess to clean up.Also theres a lot more to understand of what behind the scenes are,who's doing what and why(?)Obama isn't at fault for every thing here by him self,there are several government people also in control of the issues at hand in the white house.If every one doesn't agree upon things then the bill never gets signed,so we again are out in the cold.I understand that we do need to stick together and fight for this issue on insurance and the battle for decent medical care.I feel things will get worse before they get better. good luck

  REALLY, the Democrats have had a majority control of Congress since 2007, wasn’t Senator Obama in the senate at that time too. The mess that you insinuate was led by Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reid, including the presence of Senator Obama too. In 2009 the Democrats took over super majority control of all the US Government with Pelosi, Reid and President Obama leading the way.
  Instead of a CLEAN UP, the mess got more messier. We all can agree to it getting worst.
  Just wondering where you have been the last 4 years of a Democrat controlled economy. THE QUESTION IS WERE YOU BETTER OFF IN 2006 with a Republican President and a Republican controlled Congress than you are today?

At some point the burden of government will crush even my spirit... at some point I will decide that being a maker isn't worth it and being a taker is sooo much easier... so maybe i'll stop working and stay home to paint and let those that are still makers finance MY freedom... that's what you are advocating isn't it? Sooner or later John you're going to run out of makers to take from then what? You obviously haven't thought this socialism thing through.

  It has every thing to do with their freedom and nothing to do with the burden of government unless you are conceding that government and business are inextricably entwined.
  
  Won't the point when you decide to not to be a maker be at the point where you would be better off as a taker?
  Why should it be any different for other low paid workers?
  
  Why should others work for less than subsistence wages just to prop you and your like?
  
  Why should others give up their freedom to support yours?
  
  I'm not advocating benefits for the low paid, I'm advocating fair wages, wages which will increase spending power and cut dependency on the tax payer, indeed reduce the burden on the tax payer by paying taxes.

  A fair wage isn't what you or government says is fair...it's the minimum one will accept to perform a task. I can't think of anything more fair than an agreement freely made between 2 parties.

  No pay and benefits is a negoiation. If you don't like what's being offered you can solicit other offers which is exactly how I landed where I am today. Of course you have to have something someone is willingly to pay for and there again that is up to you!

  The choice is yours, pay the businesses enough for them to pay a working wage or pay taxes.
  It seems a no brainer to me but if you want to go on thinking that food stamps etc come from the fairies and not your taxes then dream on.

  About 30% of those don't have health insurance by choice and can afford it... but you would have the government force them to make that purchase against their will because YOU think it's how they shoul spend THEIR money... and you don't even see how that is morally wrong!

  People who CAN afford insurance and don't get insurance pass the cost on to those WITH insurance when they can't pay. Those who can't afford insurance also become a financial burden to the insured and to the taxpayer. Everybody gets sick or injured sometime and they wind up in the system that as an nisured parson and taxpayer I pay for.

  Hummmmmm Clueless.............What was wrong with the way insurance already was? My self as a tax payer one way or the other? if we don't foot the bill for the non-insured we still get the shaft via some other government scam.We in the end still pay for another bill etc. Some one in another forum just asked how can this country help other countries(?) I said I can only guess at the fact that USA has more opportunities,schooling;education,jobs,work places etc.USA has many homeless people but I have found that some choose to be so.

  You know that it's a myth, America contributes very little to other countries in reality, it seems a lot because the US is wealthy but as a percentage it is not much at all.

  So why should Washington state be allowed taxes on revenue earned in Nevada? Washington would do well to control their spending which was growing at twice the rate of their revenues. One again John, how much is enough? How much of YOUR labor, your time, is the government entitled to? 6 Months isn't enough? How about 9 or 10? How much more am I required to contribute to this wasteful corrupt monster that wants to control every aspect of my life???

1. Note to all. Please refrain from abbreviating Lady_Love's name as "LL" as it is confusing with another hubber, Live Longer, who has been known as "LL" for much longer than Lady_Love has been a member of HP. I do not speak for Ms. Love, of course. But would respectfully request that we all agree to LaLo rather than LL when addressing or discussing Lady_Love.
2. LaLo. You have now been here 6 months and written only 3 hubs.
At present, there is no official threshold of # of hubs required to be eligible to post in the forums (although it has been proposed to Admin).
However, I see no reason why we, as community of regular Politics & Social Issues forum posters, cannot informally petition you to "publish or perish" as it were.
I do not speak in any official capacity here. However, there have been numerous posts of late inferring that your purpose here in the forums is questionable.
How about making yourself a legitimate HUBBER and write some HUBS about all these social issues so near and dear to your heart?

I will be the first to sign the petition. Heck, I may even read and comment on said hubs .

  And if my posts stay on top of the list it is because the free market of ideas is voting for them by responding! My posts provoke thought discussion and debate about subjects that affect most of us... that's why they "clutter" the list!

It says over there next to the reply box in black bold letters: Do not start threads for the sole purpose of promotion or posting links. Is this forum exempt?

I'm on a computer today without the forum filter. I usually can't see the political forum, but it appears you have begun each thread with a link.
